He took only 1 shot tonight and 6 against Baylor and is 0-7 combined over the last 2 games?

I thought he could score, or he did earlier in the season? He seems to have lost all of his confidence or he thinks it's not the PG's job to score?

I think it has to do with two things.

First, you stick a kid that isn't a true pg as your starting pg, and of course he is going to struggle finding his offense. Running the O as a pg is tough enough, let alone asking a true freshman that isn't a pg to run it.

Second, Hornbeak isn't some polished offensive stud. He just isn't. You can see the potential down the road, but he isn't a great shooter, and isn't strong with the ball when driving. Like most college guards, you get him in the open court, or alone on the wing, and he looks good.

We're asking a lot of him right now. Frankly, I'm almost to the point of wishing we'd just give half or more of the pg minutes to Grooms, that way Hornbeak could slide over and play some SG.

I'm getting there to, WT. for me, Woodard can't get to campus fast enough. Our PG play is just not very good right now.

Agree WT. Grooms needs to play and slide Hornbeak over. Long term Cousins might be a better point than Hornbeak.

Funny a week or so ago you woulda gotten killed for saying this.

I will say that there are some teams that Hornbeak can play the point against, and not hurt the team. The teams that don't pressure us as well. The teams that don't defend as well overall. But against the KU's, the KSU's, the UT's.....and maybe even OSU.....we need Grooms getting minutes to decrease turnovers, and to get us into our stuff.

Not trying to go off an a tangent, but what you describe here reminds me of the situation with Austin Johnson in 2005-06. AJ turned out OK.

Sam Grooms is just too weak on defense. Coach Kruger is going with the best options available. I also cannot wait for Woodard to get here.
