Who will start at the point in 2013?

cj cole will be on basketball scholarship in 2013 that is a done deal from the coaches mouth .. he will be on basketball scholarship in 2012 if we don't sign anyone in the late period .. that is also from the coaches mouth

If OU has one more ship to use in spring.
Transfer PG or transfer big makes a lot of sense, and is being pursued there's a name out there allegedly.

So in 2013, you have
Sophs
Hield SG
Helonbreak PG/SG
Henry SF/Athletic PF
Cole PF

Juniors
Neal SF
Clark SF/SG

Senior
M'Baye

Transfer PG/PF

Ideally you add in 2012-2013
HS PG
HS Big Wing
HS PF
HS PF
JUCO PF/PG (opposite of the transfer position)

Starting lineup in 2013
Helonbreak PG or Transfer PG
Clark SG
Neal Big Wing
M'Baye - PF
Transfer big/HS big or Henry

I hope the kid proves me wrong, I am just shocked they offered him a scholly even if it comes soph year.

There is a formula for the success of Sooner basketball that has worked very well over the years. You get the best regional high school talent you can, and supplement that with Juco's and the occasional transfers to fill needs.

Two of our best teams have made this formula work! Tubbs 89 team with JC PG Blaylock with high school guys like Grant and King. Then fast forward to Kelvin's final Four team with again the juco PG White, Era, Mcghee and high school Price. In fact some of our best teams are when we have multiple juco starters. I think coach Kruger knows this formula and will use it!

Thanks. I don't mean this as a slam as anything on Cole, but I really hope we sign someone in the late period. I think it's awesome what Cole is bringing to the table by greyshirting and helping the squad, and as a smart kid he should understand he is in no worse situation by Newell transferring, and the team can get better with the right kid in the late signing period.

I think it's good we will put him on scholarship in 2013, but this team needs to get more kids in this recruiting class, to help balance the roster after the mass exodus at the end of next season.

Brett, if you'll recall, a number of fans questioned Kelvin's sanity when David Godbold went from a recruited walk on to a scholarship player before he arrived on campus. A few, but nothing on that level, even wondered why OU signed Cade Davis, and more recently, Ryan Neal.

You may be right about Cole. But I don't have a problem with rewarding a local kid, who is by all accounts a fine young man and a great student, not to mention the fact that he is 6' 7" 220, with the potential to be a decent player in time.

I know you weren't being critical of giving C. J. a scholarship. Just thought I would point out that things turned out okay for a few other kids who were not necessarily viewed as ideal candidates for a ship.
