We all know Willie is an NBA talent and could make the jump right now. But most would agree that if he came back and had a great junior season he could also jump into the top 10.

I think it is the right decision for Willie to come back. He would establish lifetime goodwill among true OU supporters (or at least he sure as heck should).

When the smoke clears, if Willie came back, Tiny was only suspended a short while or cleared, Fitz and Pledge worked their tails off, Cam and TJ come in and we add a juco or two we could have a very good season next year.

Let's hope Kirk Bohls is wrong.

He is.

I would note wrong and Kirk Bohls is tautologous.

Rarely happens...but I agree with this.

Now that TMG has decided to leave perhaps we can get a true distributor in to play the point that would work better with Willie. However as I have said before I only want Willie back if he is willing to play the 2 almost exclusively. If he wants to try to come back to show he can play the point I would rather he just move on.

It would not surprise me if WW agrees to come back only if he gets to play the point. He believes that will be his position in the pros and he would like to show the scouts that he can handle the position.

If that happens, I hope Jeff tells him no thanks.

Why does no one think WW can play the point? With TMG around it isn't like he really got a chance this season. I think people are assuming he wouldn't be good at the one on the basis that he was turning to ball over. His turnovers were from taking it to the basket not from running the offense which I think he could do.

We had a shoot first PG this year and that didn't exactly take us to the promised land. I'd rather not have the same next season.

Don't you think us not going to the promised land last season had more to do with the shoot first point guard not playing any defense?

Not trying to be a prick or anything, but I think having a point that can score is definitely a luxury. It's just that darn thing called defense that Capel has got to get them to buy into.

Willie,
TMG is gone. If you come back, you are the man...no questions about it. The ball is yours. You can go out a hero.

If Willie is willing to be a team player and invest 100% in WINNING, then I'd love to have him back. I just think that needs to be made very clear to him before we welcome him back. And I still think we're a better team with him running at 2 instead of at 1. That's just my opinion.

You can't just say we did X thing this season so it must have been bad. Do actually have a reason to think WW can't become a pg? I think capel is going hard enough after a number of juco points that he probably wants WW at the 2; but I still think that kind of logic is silly. Not everything we did this season was bad. It isn't more than an off hand assertion if you don't back it up with more than that. Why can't WW be a distributer? Why was having a coring pg the problem? I am not saying you are wrong, just that I am sick of posts like that because the fact that we did something this doesn't prove it was the problem. Should we not start Cade because he started last season? Maybe we should play Hardrick because we didn't last season. We ran the press zone in some games we lost so it must be bad, etc... If you have a problem with a scoring pg that is fine. I prefer someone who can create for others too, but why can't you just say that instead?

Okay, I take it back. Jeez. I SAY AGAIN, I just think we're better with Willie at the 2 than at point. Is that not good enough for you?

At least it's becoming more clear why WW was playing with such frustration this year, it wasn't just the young team.

Willie Warren is NOT a point guard. Willie Warren is a driving, set shooting 2 guard. OU needs a true point guard to come in. A true point guard runs an offense. This means if the best way for the offense to run one game is for him to score, he scores. If it is to distribute, he distributes. A true point guard is unselfish and just wants to win. Do you think Willie Warren is this? I don't.
