With Willie gone, is OU doomed for next season?

Tiny probably won't be back....
Willie is gone....
TMG bolted....
Ray Willis transferred...

Everyone knows I would like OU to get 1-2 juco guys a year to fill certain roles, but this seems like an impossible situation for next year.

Unless those juco guys all come in and have Terrell Everett (Carter), Ebi Ere (Poland), and Taj Gray (Aziz) type of impacts I just don't know if the team will win 13 or more games.

OU could be relying on all new players next season, and that does not usually go well.

next season we might only win 13 games, but if it's because we aren't experienced enough/simply out-manned....I'll take that over not trying hard and egocomplexes.

I think Gallon will be back...nothing new has come out about his situation and as you know in situations like this no news is good news

We will be better next year....assuming we sign the correct guys

1) Carter
2) Poland
3) clark
4) cade
5) gallon

or

1) carter
2) cade
3) clark
4) gallon
5) ndiaye

this makes poland and ndiaye the most important gets in my opinion

For as good as I thought we'd be last season, I'm going to temper my negative expectations for next season.

I agree that Gallon will probably be back, and I think we sign at least two more bigs to go with him [FWIW, I think we go 3 for 3 this weekend and also like our chances with Majok].

Perfect case, IMHO:

1) Carter (TJ)
2) Cade (Poland, Pledger, TJ)
3) Clark (Pledger, Poland, Neal)
4) Fitz/Johnson/Majok/Neal (Clark)
5) Gallon/Aziz*/Thompson

*Aziz = I have hope we get him, but for some reason I'm skeptical of our chances as more and more teams might get in on him.

That roster is not a world-beater, but the B12 will be a little down next year.

apply what Ben said for me also.

Don't let the door hit ya in the azz.

Capel needs to start building a team instead of putting individuals out there. I'm not sure if this team is any good if WW and TMG come back.

Obviously Tiny will be the key and I think things will be fine in regards to him coming back. I think if we can bring in Carter or another scoring guard we will surprise people and I think will for sure win more games then this past year.

I won't. 13 wins and a losing season sucks any way you slice it.

I understand where you are coming from, but if we have back-to-back losing seasons, I don't see how Capel comes back. I think he is a good coach, though, so next season is time for him to prove it.

Capel said himself that he doesn't build a team.... he said he signs individuals and hopes they turn into a team.

I didn't really agree with his comment, but there ya go.

That really worked last year. A lot of the reason why we had success with Blake at OU was because there was already parts to a team built in for Jeff. You can't just throw crap out there and hope it sticks.

TMG, Willie, Ray Willis leaving have nothing to do with our terrible inside defense and rebounding play from last season. And if we dont do anything to improve the inside play, we were destined to repeat 2010 in 2011, regardless of what guards were still on the team. Gallon staying, only saves our season next year, if we sign an actual capable center and are able to shift Gallon to PF where he belongs. Gallon at Center leaves next years team with a low ceiling.

While those who are unqualified are doing it.....

I'm declaring for the NBA draft.

I agree. Capel isn't back for another year if the team wins 13 games next year.
