Women’s team

Watched it… gutty performance for sure. Coach has decided to play to our strengths… run and gun.

Any team with size gives them fits. Can’t play the half Court game.

Couple of really stupid turnovers… I mean like 5th grade crap… but a very good win.

I keep using the run and gun
I see… lol

This was a special win for a number of reasons. You can bet it’s one the players and coaches won’t forget anytime soon. As a starter, a clean sweep of Baylor doesn’t come along too often. I believe the last was in 2010.

As Skyvue said, OU players went through warm ups on the bus. That was after they changed into their uniforms, on the bus. A television camera showed them getting off of the bus in the pouring rain in Waco, already dressed to step onto the court.

I thought to myself, this team can’t possibly be ready to play the #9 ranked team in the country on their own court immediately following a long bus ride. I was wrong. The game didn’t start well. Baylor jumped off to a lead and eventually led by twelve points before OU fought their way back. This team is tough physically as well as mentally. They have to be. Nearly every team they face has players who are taller than anyone on OU’s roster.

It was an exciting game. To be honest, I still can’t believe OU won! The deck was stacked against them, that’s for sure. Baylor led the entire way, except when the score counted the most—the final seconds! Congrats to the Sooner women’s team!

The grit and fight this team displays game-in and game-out is phenomenal. I tend to give most of the credit for this to Coach Jennie and her staff. Watch how this young lady conducts herself at courtside during games – the way she encourages her players, both as a team and individually – it's great to see. And watch/listen to the way she deals with the media. She is totally a breath of fresh air in a profession that all too often includes folks who behave like the Baylor coach who embarrassed herself and her team after the loss to OU.

Also, though it won't be a popular thing to say on this board, a shout-out should also go to Sherri Coale. Most of the current roster was brought to Norman by Sherri. She and the OU fans didn't get an opportunity to see what these girls could do in Coale's final season, due to COVID and some devastating injuries. Sherri may have been unable to convince many tall post players to come to OU in recent years, but the players she did bring in are winners.

What did the Baylor coach say or do?

Continuing the classy tradition of Baylor coaches/athletics.😉

When she started complaining about the officiating, I had to move on. Baylor shot 28 free throws (it would have been more, had they made them at a higher percentage) to OU's 21. OU was whistled for 25 fouls to BU's 20. How much more of a disparity was she hoping for? I was watching with crimson glasses, of course, but I honestly felt BU was getting the benefit of the officiating for most of the game.

And the BU fans who are mad that they didn't make OU forfeit are embarrassing.

Everything she said made me think that she and the team thought that our win in Norman was a fluke. They thought they were going to walk all over us in Waco. When that didn't happen, she was flailing around for any excuse for their loss.

You should have watched it all, sky. It got progressively worse.

The fans on that board seemed to think it was a swell post-game conference; one even alluded to finally having a coach that speaks her mind (as if their last coach was some kind of shrinking violet??).

What a weird sports culture that school has.

Yup saw all that. It was a great win… I just think we had prob 5-6 really boneheaded turnovers that if those don’t happen we have a solid 5-7 point win.

No worries… they are fun to watch.

Question though.. who is one of the better players that is hurt? Back this yr or out?
Definitely want some size in the future though

Ana Llanusa. I believe she was our leading scorer when she went down with a knee injury in the 10th game of the season.

Even though they are Baylorians you do have to have a little empathy for BU fans, they kind of went through the same thing we did with TBOW- having to reconcile that your coach, who was fantastically successful, would leave your school for what is seen by most as a lesser job. Maybe even worse for them, as Mulkey was way more successful than LR.

Isn't she from Louisiana? And I think he son played baseball there.

Another remarkable win for the women today. They were a bit off for most of the game but a late push got the game to OT and they won it in a second OT.

I've been enjoying this team all season, but they now are my main focus (softball will get my attention too, when it starts play). The men are back-burnered.

Yep. Me too! I can’t take anymore PP basketball from the men’s team!

They won 8 games last year and they’re 20-3 this year. Coach Jenny should be the coach of the year. What a great hire that was.

Yup… getting paid 1/8 of the salary…

$475k to 2.8 million

This team is fun to watch! I love the pace! Inside outside game!

I absolutely love what Jennie is doing and I hope she'll coach the Sooners as long – or longer – than Coach Coale. And, when she's taken the team to as many FFs as our previous coach, I'll bet she'll be making more than 2.8 million.
