Women’s team

With only Lampkin moving on graduation-wise, we should only be better next season. I thought after Ana Llanusa went down for the season we'd really struggle to be competitive in the conference and we'd be lucky to make the tournament, but this staff and group of kids proved me wrong. Also, Gabby Gregory had an illness for 6 months and when she returned wasn't anything like the player she was for us the two previous seasons. That's a substantial amount of loss for a team that relies on perimeter players/scoring.

Now just imagine next season Llanusa healthy, Gregory back to her old self (hopefully), Madi Williams, TRob, PLUS Vann, Tot and hopefully four talented freshmen that contribute immediately. Without a lack in height next season, we should absolutely be competing for the B12 title along with Texas & Iowa State (I believe Baylor will drop next season a bit), and make it further into the NCAA tournament. The women's program is undeniably on the rise, and it's been a long time since I've been this excited about an upcoming season.

Now, if only our men can get some inspiration from them and work their tails off in the offseason to get better and more competitive next year, most likely our last year in the B12 conference!

I watched more women’s team games this season than I had in years. So, I share your excitement about what the future holds! Seems to me the only thing missing is a five who can even the odds with opponents who have a bigger, stronger player inside we have to double team to prevent easy layups, and even that is may not be enough. Do we have a player like that coming in next year? If not, I hope Jennie and her staff are staying busy in the transfer portal!

There is one thing that bothered me most of the season: careless, unforced turnovers! Reminded me too much of the men’s team. Note, I’m not talking about the usual turnovers we typically see in every game. It’s the dumb, total loss of concentration mistakes that leave us shaking our collective heads and waking the family dog when we stomp our foot and scream! Please tell me there will be better days ahead with ball security?

Coach B is the sh1t! Can’t wait to see what she builds here! Great 1st year, Coach!

I'm not an x's and o's person but my understanding is that Jennie's offense seems to be based on the players making reads and making split-second decisions based upon those reads rather than a patterned offense. A certain percentage of our turnovers seem to be caused by a player seeing the pass they should make and not making the pass correctly or by two players making a completely different read on the same play. I guess what I'm trying to say is I think we might always have more turnovers than some people are comfortable with.

You may be right, MsP! Actually, that’s how it looks to me. A pass that was open a split second earlier closes and the result is a turnover that is so awkward it almost appears to be intentional.

Since both of our point guards are young, youth could be playing a role in our turnovers. I really like what I see, so I have little doubt they will improve in time.

Were the women playing the 2017 Villanova team tonight? I kid, but good heavens.

lol... no doubt...hate to say it but it was almost comical. Tip of the hat to the team and kids, they played hard til the end.

understand and agree/disagree. Some of our really boneheaded TO's were just pure "stupid" passes or lost control of the ball. The one pass last night, early...we had the post on our hip about halfway up the lane.

The entry pass was from above the Ft line...it had no arch on it. Bad angle, flat pass against a taller player.

That's just the one I remember but I know there have been multiple ones like that this season. Cross court passes, etc.

Angles angles angles...lol.

Just my two cents.
