woodard

Did Woodard play all that bad compared to the rest of the team last night?

He had six points, three rebounds, three assists and two turn overs. That is not great but it isn't horrible given how the team played. He shot 40% from the field and 100% from 3 point range according to the box score but I would swear I saw him miss a 3 pointer late.

It seems to me we are quick to pile on this kid. I think he is playing adequately and played pretty well last year. I think he is going to be pretty good his junior and senior seasons, especially if he can improve his shooting.

The biggest thing I saw was that he couldn't get open most of the time. He didn't have very many turnovers because other people had to handle the pressure for him.

The issue isn't that he played that much worse but when you go into that kind of environment where the other team is going full court/40 minutes of hell you need your PG to take over and help control the game. We desperately needed him to calm the rest of the guys down and most importantly take control of bringing the ball up the court so we can at least try and set up in our offense. It looked like he was running away from the ball at times and when you're supposedly the main ball handler on the team you have to force the ball into your hands.

I am not saying he had a great game. It just seems to me he is taking a lot of blame when there is plenty to go around. Basketball is a team sport. Woodard was a big part in most of OU's wins.

I think he is going to be pretty solid his junior and senior year. Very few guys will have started 60+ games at pg at the start of next season.

The WVU game will help Jordan Woodard be a better basketball player. He will watch tape and learn from that experience. I just hate to see his own fans run him down. I only wish I had the type of athletic ability he has.

Agreed. Cousins was absolutely terrible with the ball in his hands last night. Reminded me of the end of his (Cousins') freshman year, when he got his pocket picked quite often. Cousins is just sloppy with his dribbling. Same with Buddy, but Buddy doesn't force it as much.

4 assists against KSU followed up by 22 turnovers against WVU. Weber & Huggins have given the league the roadmap to our weak spots. Every other team in the league is going to attack until it stops working.

We've always known guard play in college basketball can take you a long ways. We assumed it was our strength, but if we are below average at handling and passing it will do us in.

Yeah you are right about guard play. All you have to do is look at UCONN last 2 National Championships. Walker and Napier were key to winning those.

Hell, put in Freschilla...little white guy. Assuming he's a typical little white guy who can pass and hit threes.
