Worried about tomorrow

Not worried at all. No prob if we lose. I will only be bummed if we lose a game we controlled or if the refs help get a lead away from us by ignoring mugs. Other than that pressure is on WVU.

Like several other posters, I think Trey will handle that trapping/mauling defense pretty well. The 'Eers will obviously start the game by double teaming/trapping our PG all over the court, but whenever Trey gets the inbounds pass against that type of defense, WV will be in danger of giving up a dunk or a layup.

Also, I won't be surprised if Lon's game plan includes giving WVU a dose of its own medicine.

I agree. I haven't seen that many WVU games, but when I have, they don't seem to handle a press at all well (which seems odd).

This is Trae's biggest game by far. If he outduels Jevon Carter, there is no limit to what he can do this year. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

Yes.....totally agree. This will be TY's biggest test to date. Carter is the best on-ball defender in the conference (and one of the best in the country). But Carter has never defended a player of this level.....will be a great matchup.

I don't envy the officials. As others have said, it's going to be a war. I like our chances with a really good point guard. He can really kill them if they go press all game.

Well coached teams typically hurt a press. I think OU is going to crush the press. Manic or another big at mid court will cause a lot of problems if they get rid of the ball quickly. I would love to see Manic except for the fact I would also want him on 3 point line.

If just one crew of officials would call 80% of the fouls WVU commits, that would solve the problem. The notion of officials being cowed by a coach (and his players) into calling the game differently is so maddening. Call the fouls and let the coach and his team deal with the consequences.

They would come around very quickly, of that I'm certain.

I'm just ready to see how the team reacts to WVU's press. Lon has done pretty good against them. We will see how good both teams are and it will be a battle. Lattin, McNeuce and Odomes need to stay out of foul trouble also. When they press Trae, the rest of the team just need to knock their shots down.

You guys need to have realistic expectations. WVU has only lost one game this year, to a very good ATM team overseas. They shoot better this year than recent years. That guard that have(JC) will be a huge challenge for Trae and our guards. It's at their place. In my mind it's 65-35, maybe 60-40 WVU. I mean this is college basketball you don't beat every top 10 team on the road.

That being said if Trae surgically shreds their press, OU shoots well(others step up besides Trae), and they play a modicum of defense then yes there's a good chance... They keep surprising me!

I would expect the refs to call things balanced, they do try. I have a problem with borderline calls being ignored on both teams to the advantage of a team that is being intentionally recklessly aggressive. I'm not surprised to see it happen on their home floor to some extent but when they get their style of game called on the road I scream enough to stroke out. (i.e. wv at LNC 2016)

I do have realistic expectations. I think OU hurts the press and wind. If the press hurts OU, WVU wins. Being positive does not equate to unrealistic.

The rule changes instituted this year make it much more difficult for defensive players to intrude on an offensive player's space. The offensive player has to have room to move. This definitely helps Trae (and others) beat traps like West Virginia's. That said, if OU loses, people will blame the refs. It won't be because West Virginia's a really good team playing on its home court.

The refs generally have a tough time with West Virginia because they foul on every play. They dare the refs to call them on it, and a lot of times they don't. Especially in Morgantown.

Thanks for your feedback/analysis. Especially the part where you admit you haven't even seen West Virginia. I feel so much better!

If the Sooners play hard and smart, and we get our share of luck, we'll be in the game, which gives us a chance to win.

That's about all one can ask when playing a good team on the road.

That being said, I dearly love blowing Huggy out on his own court.

The glass is either half full or half empty. It is your choice. And you lose nothing by by believing.
