Worst offense and coaching...

When "I" have to coach these girls from my couch louder than Sherri is coaching off the bench......Something needs to change. I love Sherri to death, but it aggravates me to no end, to see her "just sitting there" nonchalantly watching the ball game....GET UP AND COACH !!!! If YOU have given up, then so has the team!!!!!

That was very perplexing. She was just sitting there like a spectator. If she didn't want to coach she should have turned it over to an assistant.

When you have an embarrassing loss, there is a tendency to reach for answers. Did we not practice? Should we have not participated in charity work? Do we not have sufficient athleticism?

Fact: we lost on the road to a 2-3 team. Even after the loss, we are 3-2, and they are 3-3. We are still +1 on home court advantage, and not many in the Big Twelve are (Texas and who else).

I doubt that players trained for athletics were severely damaged by hugging ten-year-olds.

Every coach (that exhibits any sanity) has experienced this. There are times when things just go haywire. How does the #1 team in the nation fumble 13 times in a game to lose to Kansas (1975)? It happens, and all you can do is to regroup. You can do more damage by over-reaching in a bad situation. Let them explain it themselves.

Sometimes, coaches see games like this coming in practice or previous games. If you tell them and tell them what you want them to do and they don't do it, let them do it their own way and suffer the consequences. I'm not in favor of that as a strategy in every game but sometimes you have to let them dig their own hole. They played similarly at TCU but pulled out the victory in the 4th quarter. This time, the lack of focus, effort and attention to detail lasted for the entire game.

This also makes it look like it is the players fault and the coach has no responsibility for the debacle.

If you coach to create leaders, you have to let them learn to lead. Those who run every aspect of the show don't really create leaders.

We played some pretty good teams this year in programs like Utah, BC, Utah, and Washington, the latter two of whom are fighting for the Pac 12 title at 4-1 and 3-2. We played against Baylor and A&M. The most turnovers we had in any of these games was sixteen, and we only had eight in one. Today, we had 26 (twenty-six!). Was something different? Account for it.

Tough game. Lot of let downs. When good looks don't fall, you can't win, its that simple. We had good players, taking good shots- and they wouldn't fall. Also really sloppy with the ball, we felt the pressure of not shooting well and we forced some bad turnovers. Also, they hit every shot- We just didn't have anything today.

But I also think were gonna bust out soon in a big way and I'm not worried about this loss at all... Maddie is being aggressive. Peyton keeps shooting. And they are eventually gonna start falling and it'll stabilize everything

Also, the heading to the thread should have read worst refs as well.... Cause that was pitiful. Just one of a 100 examples has to be that that charge on Derica!??? LOl There was literally no contact. Zero. The girl fell over. Worst reffed game I may have ever seen. Its sad they can't get better refs for the woman's game...

I wonder if the week of charity affected the play. I saw pics of them lifting boxes and doing manual work. If they are not use to this. It could wear you down. Then add practice to it everyday.

OSU should have been the sole focus this week. Community service is great, but there is plenty of times for it during the offseason.

Recipe for disaster when 22 of your 47 field goal attempts were from the 3 point line vs OSU shooting 19 of there 59 field goal attempts from the 3 point line. Hard to win like that unless you are the golden state warriors. I've always said the coaching staff has to recruit a kid who can score the mid range at times.

A few days ago we were talking about the step back/fall away jump shots. We saw some from the Cowgirls today although I didn't see any from the Sooners. Their big (Jensen) even had one.

Agreed. We desperately need players who can penetrate and knock down 15 footers.

You know things have really gone wrong if you see a post from Vinny.

Ha, you two need to learn how to Not see a poster. If you research my posts you will see a lot of positive posts. But I am a poster that doesn't sugar coat everything like you two. OU sucked today and so did Sherri - that is a FACT.

And you two and some of the other homers make it sound like Sherri had nothing to do with OU sucking lol. She IS the coach of the team and makes OVER 1 million per year - she has a week off and lays a Huge egg like this and she deserves a ton of criticism - just like when OUbplays well I say so (if u decide to look lol)

There are so many things on this thread that I have a problem with.

1. If you are going to blame the coach for every loss, please give the same coach the credit for the wins.

2. Yes it was absolutely ugly, but the fact it happened to OSU just magnifies it more. Try to look at the big picture.

3. I have personally been in the same situation. The only thing coaches can do in the middle of a game is X & O's and maybe find the right mixture of players. That is not what happened today. It had more to do with the mentality of the girls and OSU wanted it more. Kids don't react to coaches throwing a fit on the sidelines. Especially not young adults.

I could go on and on but I just ask that you look at the big picture for this team. They have their weaknesses, but are no way as bad as they looked today.

Deep Breath and relax. We have beat better and lost to worse already this season. Sometimes in a competition when the wheels fall off it is hard to get them back on before it gets ugly. Especially in a sport with this much emotion. It amazes me as a fan how quick the sooner nation seems belittle their team and coaches over a single performance. Have any of ever competed in athletics? Yes, we need work. Trust me when I say SC knows this and every player on OU's team. Sometimes or most of the time a good butt whipping is necessary to push the whole team to another level of effort and discipline. We know where they are now, let's see where they are at the end. BOOMER!!

I saw our team struggle against a 3-2 zone, I saw our team get stiffed by too many mid-range jumpers and I saw our team take too many shots with no other OU player within 10 feet of the basket to get the rebound or putback. Game film will give plenty of teaching ammo. It was a mental loss, IMO. Their minds were in a galaxy far, far away. We have the talent, we have the athletic ability but we need to bring the brains along too.

Well, I always give credit to Sherri when she does a good job. Unfortunately that has been rare the last couple years. I blame the coach AND the players yesterday. But when you are supposedly a "great" coach and paid north of 1 million per year AND have a full week to prepare and then throw a stinker out like that and just sit there with your chin in your hands THAT demands explanations and reviews and action. And watch Geno at UConn - his girls respond to yelling and screaming
