The Los Angeles Clippers today announced that they have recalled rookie guard Willie Warren from the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League.

Warren, 21, was assigned to Bakersfield on Feb. 2 and appeared in six games with the Jam, averaging 21.0 points, 7.0 assists 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 46 percent from 3-point land. The Jam went 5-1 with Warren in the lineup from Feb. 4 - 16.

Warren has appeared in 14 games with the Clippers this season and is averaging 2.2 points and 1.4 assists in 7.8 minutes per game.

The former Oklahoma University standout was selected by the Clippers in the second round (54th overall pick) of the 2010 NBA Draft.

Yea, he tweeted he would be back with the team after the break a week or so ago....

Good for him. Keep it up Willie.

WWII recalled by the Celtics

yes, they're that old.

While I agree Willie needs to learn to deal with this type of adversity, I have to admit he probably SHOULD have been logging some minutes with the Clips. He's looked smooth just about every time he's entered a game. Looks like a pro to me. Some of the other guards they roll out there, not so much...

He did that all in about 25 minutes per game too.
Absolutely tore it up. He was probably the best player in the whole D-league.

That's why it's kind of odd that Del Negro couldn't even get him on the floor with their starting 2-guard out, and even sent him down AFTER that happened.

Then again, it is Vinnie Del Negro. He's done good things in his limited time on the floor.

definitely thought of world war 3 when I saw the thread title before I realized it was about willie... so confused lol

If you're referring to Bledsoe and Foye, you're homering big time here. No way WWIII plays over those guys.

Right now those two deserve more minutes, but I'm not sure either is significantly better than Willie, and I think he should be getting a chance to prove his worth by eating into some of their minutes.

Neither has a good A/T ratio. Foye is awful at rebounding, Bledsoe is not great. Both are awful three-point shooters. And in a combined 46 minutes per game, they're only averaging 14 combined points.

And even so, Bledsoe is basically a 1, so with EG out, how can you not get WW on the floor?

Talk about misguided. Do you watch Clipper games?

Those guys, although they've had a good outing here and there, have been flat out AWFUL in MANY games. There have been games Bledsoe's been in that he looked like he belonged in a YMCA league. My daughter shoots better from distance than he does.

My point was, game to game, VDN COULD/SHOULD have gotten WW minutes. He's looked smoother than those guys.

I'm not a huge WW fan, but I can watch guys play and tell who benefits the team ON THE COURT. I believe off the court is where WW loses his coaches.

I'm glad you can fully evaluate WW's NBA ability based on the 2 mins of garbage time he plays. You can make all the melodramatic statements you want (YMCA, my daughter shoots better), but the bottom line here is Bledsoe is getting the minutes because he's proven he can handle the load. Sure he's a rookie and has played poorly at times, but on many other occasions he's done a very fine job running the offense. Also, he's very athletic and I think will be a quality 1 in the NBA.

Could WW get more time and prove himself? Of course. He's extremely talented and has great potential. But if you think WW is playing 20+ mins a game and is going to look "smooth" all the time, you're "misguided."

Actually, I think that says A LOT about him. Most mop-up players don't look smooth in their two minutes.

This was a JOKE...lighten up, Francis.

I agree he's very athletic, but I'm not sure he's shown much this year to think he will be a quality 1 in the NBA. He was a two at Kentucky, so we'll see. The progress of Russell Westbrook certainly makes me believe he COULD do it, but he's no Westbrook (rookie version).

That's all I was saying. I never said 20+ minutes. Of course, Foye and Bledsoe's play hasn't really warranted them getting that kind of time either, but I digress...

YOU RUINED THE JOKE!

The idea was "WWII" being remembered by the old-assed Celtics (who I am a fan of BTW) ... but you blew it by combining the topics.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

say what you want b/c it was damm funny.

WOw I'm impressed. I knew he would do good in the d-league but I thought it would be tough to get recalled. I am glad for him. Hats off to Willie.
