Yale

The player that I have been really pleased with the past few games has been McKenna. Watch how she sets up in the low post. She makes herself "big" by taking up space and getting both her arms up to give an easy target to pass to. She needs to work on finishing at the rim, but has a nice ten foot shot. She plays tough in the middle and as she gains more experience and confidence, will be very effective as the season progresses.

Gioya was the player I saw in high school. Loved her energy, and her play on the floor. I hope we see more of it as we move into the Big XII. In my humble opinion, the only two teams we can't beat is the horns and bears. I think on any given night we can take all the rest if these kids start playing smart basketball, and go back to passing the ball and not spend time dribbling. We have moments of playing excellent defense but have to start doing it for 40 minutes. We are starting to find our rhythm at the free throw line, now if we can just block out and find a want to on rebounding.

Last, if we want to see what shot faking on an opponent looks like, Sherri needs to show Whitney's lay up at the end of the game. Perfect text book fake to get the defense to commit and then lay the ball in for two. I would love to see her on floor at different spurts just to inject life into the team.

I am rather intrigued by both McKenna and Vivi. I watched a game with McKenna last year, and she did exactly what she does now. She doesn't seem to be dominant at anything. But, she is pretty effective at everything. She has a nice shot, good enough to be a three or four. She can rebound better than what I have seen thus far. She didn't look all that good when she tried to go in against the big players as a group. But, then, all of our posts have been stuffed by collapsing defenses. I did like it when she told Gabbi to quit throwing passes at her feet. Communicate.

I think they will be pretty good by the end of this year, and I think we will have some fairly good interior sophomores next year. Mulkey won't come in to an empty cabinet in 2017.
