$1,000.00 Bounty

It would seem this little bet between Mr. B and B.O.B. could have been settled by PM... of course then we would all miss the spectacle of grandiosity and pomposity so proudly displayed...

This board is getting more action then it ever has. Pretty funny.

Where are all the Capel haters? Come on. All that has to happen is TMG or Tiny get hurt and you can win money!

MR. B, I hope you get 10 takers here. I would like the maximum opportunity to rid this board of people who already rooted against OU this season just so that they could be "right" and would be willing to do so again next season. That would put the countdown at 12 months until those people are gone.

"Pomposity" aside, I think you are getting my drift 100%. I have the money, and a good OU basketball board without the nonsense is worth it. Not one bit of arrogance intended, and I'm not going anywhere.

There have been some strong words against our players, coach and administration, I'm willing to let some folks put there money where their mouths are to see if they really believe some of the noised they are talking.

For as horrible as we are supposed to be next season, I'm shocked at the lack of action.

Nobody knows where we will be next year. Especially with a team that failed to prove anything over this season.

What a silly bet...... at this time. Like someone said, bet with your head ..... not your heart. My thoughts:
  • I don't want to bet against the Sooners. I don't want to feel "conflicted".
  • Why bet for or against the Sooners when we have no idea who will be on the roster next year? Someone like Terrence Jones could make a huge difference. Also, will WW, Tiny, and TMG all be back?
  • I have no idea how hard the team will work this summer or if a leader steps up..... that has the player's respect.

Honestly, if I was forced to place a bet, I would bet "under" 19 ..... maybe 8-8 in Big 12 play.

JMHO

And as you said that's based strictly off last years play and projecting that group improves a little.

I am amazed how quickly some of u fans forget about the only 2 recruits we have coming to OU at this time Cameron clark and TJ cant we just be happy that atleast 2 guys in the top 100 is coming, when we were trying to get these guys their was something posted everyday now u dont think we have a chance next season man what a slap in the face.

I'm very much aware of Clark & Taylor but as a freshman, I doubt if Cameron can bring what Crocker did this year. What really concerns me is nothing in the post other than Tiny .... if he comes back.

OU's 4 guard lineup couldn't compete on the inside last year and Cam & TJ are guards at the D1 level. OU needs some bangers.

If we learned anything from this year freshmen are freshman. They aren't meant to do much on a roster.

I'm not betting against OU, and 19 seems like a good number if you are convinced that Coach Capel has lost the team and that the guys we do have aren't any good. The only problem is that results won't be available until next February and lots can happen on a message board between now and then.

Here is why I'm confdent:

1. Another year under each guys belt...particularly the Freshmen. People tend to forget that these guys came in July and started conference play in what January with about 12 games together. TMG dropped almost 40 in a game as a freshman, Tiny was a double double machine when he was motivated, Fitz. and Pledger both showed signs at different times, and all of them seemed to have been humbled.

2. I believe that Coach Capel through in the towel on teaching these guys about a month ago. What happened was that the team absolutely sucked...I also believe that the players will be much more malleable this time next season. I think that sometimes you have to hold players accountable for not playing hard, and losing sucks. Given another year in the program, I think these kids will be motivated to prove people wrong.

3. The best bets are the ones made in the heat of the moment if you can stay rational. Capel has proven himself to be a good coach when he has the talent, and I think that the talent is there next season. Best case, Three McDaa level playeres and possibly the top post, point guard and shooting guard in the conference. Worst case, no improvement except experience for the guys we have and maybe some better attitudes from recruits coming in. I like Cam and TJ, and think they will compete for minutes (something we did not have this season).

The idea that this board has been so bad of late that it needs to be "weeded out" is questionable at best. Under the previous coach (and on the boards that were active at the time), we saw more whining, complaining, and finger-pointing after close wins than what we've seen here after the worst basketball season in three decades.

Honestly, can you imagine the meltdown if this season had occurred under Sampson's watch?

The vast majority of posters have been reasonable in commenting on this horrific season as it progressed, and the ones who have complained don't remotely compare to the haters during Sampson's tenure.

So the very premise -- the motivation -- behind the bet is beyond skewed.

I think I read in another thread where BOB and Mr. B called off this bet.

I just shut it down for any new takers. I'll stand by the offers I got...to BOB's credit, he did offer to call it off.

We won 13 games this year, and we're losing everybody off this years team except for Cade Davis, Fitz, and Pledger? We will be lucky to win 10 games.

Wisdom and accuracy skyvue.

:clap

Sadly, it seems some folks on this message board would rather bury their head in sand than accept the facts about this season.
