2011 Guard Commitment?

At the Thanksgiving lunch yesterday some family swore that we had an all-american high school guard committed for 2011, am I missing something?

Not that we know of. They were probably talking about Juco All-American big man Robert Goff, who signed with OU last week.

Unless Capel pulled something out of his hat, the highest rated 2011 HS guard OU is in on is Cezar Geurerro. Is there anyone else I'm unaware of?

Guerrero may be considered an All American point guard, but I can confirm he's not committed to Oklahoma, but OU has a very good shot. We're also monitoring Guerrero's situation because he's close to Deandre Daniel, an elite recruit at IMG Academy in Florida who is Guerrero's AAU teammate. Kansas University is currently recruiting both Guerrero and Daniels. 6'3 pg Elijah Carter is also a kid Oklahoma has had interest in. Carter is out of Brewster Academy Prep, the same Prep school of Andrew Fitzgerald where he leads the team in scoring.

The coaching staff is becoming a lot more active in recruiting and I will identify some prospects the next month. They're currently recruiting 6'11 Chattanooga State Community college center Phillip Jurick, who signed to Tennessee out of high school. Jurick is currently averaging 12pts and 15rbs this season. If you go to Youtube and enter East Ridge High 2007, you will see footage of Jurick. I'm not including it on this post due to the language of the rap lyrics on the clip. Jurick informed me that Oklahoma, Kansas, Virginia Tech, and Clemson are schools he's high on right now.

One more note about Jurick, he redshirted one year at Tennessee. So he'll be a 4th year junior at his next school. He was ranked 68th in rivals final 150 rankings of 2008.

I'm not the biggest Juco advocate, but this kid Jurick has a lot of value. Reminds me of the basketball player played by Brendon Fraser on Bedazzled.
