I am curious what some of you think about this. To me, it would be logical to move Kaylon into the spot vacated by Jo. I know some of you are high on Manning. I do not think we have seen enough of her to be sure yet. I also think Kornet will get a lot of playing time. We should have an 8 person rotation with Manning, Kornet, and Durrett and the starting 5 I suggested. However, one of the newbies might push for time. I hope we have all of these available. I do not see anyone transferring. No injuries, please. If any of the 4 returning starters are benched, it will probably be Campbell. I do not think she should be, but Coale has seemed to always have her on a short leash.

I think you are right. I expect:

PG- Morgan
SG- Aaryn
SF- Sharane
PF- Kaylon
C- Nicole

I do think Maddie, Kornet, and Portia will get minutes. I just don't have a clue about the freshmen. It is rare when Sherri plays more than 8 players except in exhibition games and blowouts.

I think we will be solid next year. '

Mo-point

Vegas-shooting guard

Nicole G-post

Kaylon-Power forward

Sharane/Maddie-Off guard. I think it is Sharane's to lose, but if Maddie has a good re-hab, it would not surprise me to see her back in the line-up.

Nicole K, I think may be the first off the bench. I really like her fire and how much she gets better each and every game.

Portia, I hope comes into her own and contributes better than she has so far. I haven't given up on her.

Gioya, Having seen her play, I think she is a sleeper and will contribute pretty quickly.

Shaya, Don't know, but from what Afan4hand has posted, sounds like she may be another Joanna, I hope so. It would be nice to have another solid rebounder to go with Kay-Kay.

Derica, well we know she can score in her competition. I am looking forward to seeing her play. Maybe she will be another sleeper. Regardless looks like we will have a solid 8 rotation and hopefully all will be able to contribute.

Portia will never be a player that does much except take up space in reserve. She doesn't seem to understand what her role is on the team and fouls when it's not necessary. She also should be told to never ever shoot another three point shot. opinion

Derica and Gioya are unknowns to me.

The question next year is whether Maddie is back and ready to play. Is she effective. If she is, I anticipate that Maddie, Morgan, Vegas, and Nicole are the only sure starters. If Maddie is really back, I expect her to be somewhat like Whitney. I suspect that Sharane and Kay Kay will compete to see who the other starter is. By mid-season, I expect Maddie to be what Vegas is, our go-to player. That will take the pressure off Vegas and keep her from disappearing.

I was interested in one of OUR commentators last night who said that Vegas had the worst handles of any star 5-7 guard that he had ever seen. He mentioned that she dribbles it off her feet, makes bad passes, and just loses control of the ball. She is best in a catch and shoot situation, not a creator.

The Shaya that played against James in the AAU game was more effective on the boards than James. She can also hit the three. I've been surprised by her lack of scoring this year. But, I trust what I saw her do with that AAU team more than what she is doing with an unknown team. I think she can contribute immediately on the boards, and she is effective on offense.

I'm waiting for the game to slow down for Kornet. She has actually improved a lot in recent games. She may be ready next year.

Portia? Will still be a question mark. I think Sharane is best as a sixth man.

Portia is progressing about as well as most juco transfers. Seldom are they very efficient at the D-1 game as a junior. If she is dedicated in the off-season, she could be a solid contributor next year.

I didn't hear what OUR commentators said because I was at the game, but if that's what one of them said, I would think that commentator had the worst analysis I have ever seen. Her passing was good enough for 5 assists, including one really spectacular pass from the top of the key through traffic to Nick for a layup. She had 3 turnovers, but they came from trying to force penetration into traffic, not from bad handles. She scores a lot more off of on-ball screens and penetration than she does in catch and shoot. She really is our only creator. She's really close to breaking the career 3 point scoring record as a junior. She'll be All-Conference this year, and if we have a really good team maybe All-American next year.

I have to agree with Colton. Aaryn is not a good ball handler. She sure can shoot though.

I agree 100% with the comments made by Colton Coale or whomever said it. I have had the same thoughts many times. She seems so non-chalant. THEN, when you start to get down on her, she can take over a game and win it for you with her shooting.

I think she could be Big 12 player of the year.

how about we stick with "some commentator" not sure who said it but many just going with Colton is the wrong way to go. Leave it at a commentator. Do not put words in peoples mouth if you arent 100% sure they said it, thanks

Somehow, a commentator's comments became fodder to attack Vegas. They were simply that---a commentator's comments after a couple of turnovers. Commentators often say what a player does wrong. The same commentator may have been the one who praises Vegas as unstoppable when she is hot from the field.

PG -- Morgan/Manning
SG -- AE/?
Off Guard -- Sharane/Kornet
PF -- ?
C -- Griffin/Kay-Kay

I don't think Sherri pushes Manning until she is healed 100% because of Whitney. She is the heir apparent at point and I don't think, given this year's experience, that Sherri is going to rush her along until conference time.

I think Sharane starts. She just does too much not to.

I think PF is completely open and it could be anyone's job.

I don't think Portia plays anymore next year than she has this year. When she does, it will be at PF. I think she is just a body to Sherri now, barely above the volleyball players.

Kornet's future is tied to the summer and the early part of next season. She is another one who I think is on a very short leash. Coale barks at her more than any other player, except Durrett. That doesn't bode well for her unless she just becomes a lights out player on both sides of the ball.

Carter will get some time maybe in both guard positions.

Shaya will get some time because we are short at PF and Center. How much depends upon what she shows.

I think Kay-Kay gets a lot of time if she is fully recovered, in shape and can contribute. An achilles tear is one of the most difficult injuries from which to recover. I could see her taking most of the season to be a factor. I hope, however, that she sees a lot of playing time. We will need more out of her offensively and on the boards.

I don't expect much out of Wyatt. I think she's just one of those players Sherri signs because she has plenty of room on the roster.

Next year is going to be a real challenge. Last go 'round for Hook, AE and Griffin. It gets a little bleak after next season, IMO, unless something totally unexpected happens.

Sherri may well yell at Kornet because she needs for her to develop. You don't waste time on someone who won't play.

The player that Sherri barks at more than any other is Hook. Goes with the PG job and always has.

Really far too early to tell who will be starting next year, other than Morgan, Aaryn, and Nick.

I think for the first third to half of the season Maddie and KK will be gaining their previous form and ability, coming off injuries. By conference play Maddie will be pushing Sharane for minutes. KK will provide much needed relief minutes.

Exactly right. I've seen flashes of absolute brilliance from Portia which leads me to hope it will all come together for her by next year. If so she will get major minutes.

Exactly! We see glimpses of what she can provide. She can shoot and rebound. When she becomes more consistent, she will be playing more. The exact same thing was said about Nicole Griffin the past two years (and even the beginning of this year) and she elevated her game significantly. She's got lots of improving to do but she has improved and won lots of games for us this year. I believe Nicole, along with Portia, will be improved next year as well.

If kaylon and griffin both start this team will be worse then this years team
