So, Coach, what do think of Lazenby as a player?

If you look back at 2 years ago I was down on him. He's made tremendous strides since then. I honestly dont know if he will come in and play or just be that depth in case we have an injury.

I think he can help shooting the basketball and we need that. Is that 5 mins a half or 12 mins a half. Im not sure.

6'5 SG that will be hard nosed, play extremely hard all the time. Hes a scorer by nature.

not a fan. congrats to lazenby. hope he proves me wrong. but he is not a big 12 level player and i expect him to not play. he looks like a preferred walkon imo and I think Austin Mankins would be the more talented player between the two

Mankins? Wow. have you seen him or mankins play at all. Honest question

Mankins isnt avg 23 a game in Juco. Sorry.

I dont have a problem with Lazenby as depth. I still favor signing MiKyle because I think he would actually be an impact player.

No way Austin is good enough to be a JUCO AA

I agree with what Coach said about Lazenby. After watching a highlight video from his freshman season, I couldn't help but wonder what the heck Lon and his staff saw that I was missing? I saw a totally different player in the video from his sophomore season. He had improved considerably in every area from one year to the next.

Lazenby will not wow anyone with his athleticism or his great hops. But, he does a lot of things well. He has good handles and a better than average ability to score on the dribble drive and to makes shots from deep. He shoots more of a set shot from the perimeter, so he has learned to use ball fakes to get his shot off. Since he's a threat to drive, defenders tend to give him a step or two instead of playing him up close. That may change at the next level.

To be honest, I'm not sure what if anything to expect from our newest Sooner next season? He may play a back up role to improve our depth, or he could could develop into a player who gives us more if he continues to improve at the same rate I saw in his highlight video. I would have preferred a grad transfer, but this may work out in the end. I'll trust Lon on this one!

Mankin was a pretty good walk-on. I don't think the comparison is that far off.

Any highlights from his AA season? His fr season highlights are alright but he doesn't not look big 12 quality from that reel.

man JUCO AA doesnt mean what it used to. Omar Leary was a juco AA, i think he might have been second team tho.

Mankin played a little for OU there for a while and i believe it was in his earlier years (like sophomore year). I was never quite entirely sure why bc this is when we had our solid team. but I will take a kid who steps on the floor for a solid big 12 team, over a NOC-Enid guy 99% of the time.
