2020 Recruiting

What does that mean? Like UK and Duke? It was my understanding he's been heavily recruited for a while, including an offer from KU.

They’ve noticed.

Michigan state called last night.

We are recruiting Thompson as hard as we can. Hopefully he won't be swayed by the big boys. We do have 2 players of the year in the last few years. It is a great place to showcase your talent.

I also hear the 2021 kids have offers but they may not be allowed to accept them this early. At least see some of this summer's play.

Thompson had a great in-home last week with Kruger and Crutch.
Close battle between OU and the hawks, he loves Kruger and Crutch but feels the same about Self. Plans on announcing in the fall b4 the season starts.
He’s really improved his overall game this past season and not just a shooter any longer. Great kid, great Dad and family. Hopefully makes the right choice and picks the good guys and just feel he will.
Think it’s too late for anyone else to get in with him, at least I hope so, anyway.

I hope your right. I remember when OU had Tum Tum Nairn locked up then MSU called & a week later he pulled the trigger.

Hope we go after the 2022 kid Grady Dick. Have seen him play several times! 6'5 and has a shot to be 6'7, 6'8. He played PG for a lot of his freshman season. Think they moved him off the ball finally which helped Collegiate. Has a high, kind of slow release, but the kid is big/strong and very athletic. Guessing he will be a top 30 player in his class.

interesting...is his aunt's name Jane or Jan...my brothers had a girl in their class named Jane/Jan...former Kapaun folks.

My brothers are 51 so might be the age range. Don't know if she had a brother or not...I'm guessing so. (be this kid's dad).

Collegiate still like 3A?

I absolutely love OU and would push my kid to OU....LOL...but as just a non-bias observer...if everything equal ku vs ou in bball isn't even a battle.

Yes, TY, Blake did well and got to the pros....Buddy wasn't the level of recruit those guys were but worked hard and made it. Not the end all...but with kids these days def plays in their minds. As I said, everything being equal...maybe he gets less time at ku, not the main man, etc...but ku is a strong pull. Hell just playing in front of their crowd is a huge plus.

flame away~

Not sure about all of that. Collegiate is 3A still. They are always really good. This year they were super young and struggled at times. They were the 8seed and knocked off Cheney in their substate. Then lost in the Championship game to Kingman. Collegiate should be really good for the next few years as long as this kid stays and doesn't transfer to Sunrise.

Yeah, and even though they are 3-A, they basically play a 5-A type schedule. The postseason was the first time all year they faced 3-A opponents. I didn't make it to their games this year, but sounds like Grady was dominant in the postseason. They have had a lot of great high school players, but he is the best prospect since the Evans cousins in the mid-90s. Would love to see OU get in on him early.

No one is saying OU could compete with Kansas in hoops in regards to tradition, atmosphere, crowd noise, etc - but please don't mention the pros. I seriously doubt there is even a 1% chance he has a better NBA career if he went to Kansas than OU. Kansas has had about 55-60 1st or 2nd round NBA Draft picks all time, and I think OU is at 17. Technically, Kansas 3rd all-NBA team should be as good or better than our 1st team. We'd actually wipe the floor with their 2nd team - and our 2nd team could actually hang with their 2nd team. Since Alvan Adams entered the league, OU has had three different players make the All-Star team and Kansas has had four...just not buying the KU advantage in the NBA.

Surprised Thompson is still considering OSU. They already have a top ten 4* star guard in Davonte Davis out of Arkansas. Plus they brought in Harris Jr and Anderson III in 2019. Likele will only be a junior in 2020. That’s a talented but crowded back court.

Good ones aren't scared of talent.

He won’t go to OSU

Was going to post something similar but erased it. KU gets a lot of guys drafted, but they're certainly not pumping out stars even remotely similar to UK. Of our recent 3 stars, Blake is the only one I think would have had similar success at KU. Trae may have still been a lottery pick, but he would have had to stay 2-3 years. Buddy probably would have been a late first rounder. Guys like Wiggins and Embiid could have been suspended for the year before the season started and still landed in the lottery. I do think it's a little easier to be a second round pick at KU than OU, though.

He won’t go to OSU

I have never in my life had an 'in' on a recruit, but do for Thompson. OSU is certainly still in it. He's visited nearly a dozen time in two years, including a few weeks ago and just had his in-home visit and Boynton is there every game, he certainly would waste his time if he was, for sure, not coming. He's narrowed it down, but with some new schools coming into play it could cause him to hit the reset button on the whole thing, but OU, KU and OSU are still solidly in it. To say definitively otherwise is inaccurate.

I agree OSU still in it, but he won’t go there.

Friendly wager?

Hearing that Tulsa is hiring rod in hopes of landing Bryce. Nothing official that I know. Just heard that from my college source
