There is no “saving money” that’s why you sign 15 guys. Not gonna sign just 9 that matter.

If the kid knows he needs to redshirt at any high d1 which we would’ve. It’s what’s best for the kid.

Unless kid wanted to go to prep school but might as well get d1 coaching and s&c.

Well see. He has potential to go either way. But we need to not pay a ton for unrealized potential either

It’s not pointless if it helps the kid. (I know I know screw the kids it’s a business)

Someone had to take a top 150 atak. 90% of those schools red shirt him.

Atak is never going to be a good perimeter defender. He is fairly athletic, but in terms of being flexible and being able to guard and slide his feet, I'm not seeing it. Sometimes that can be taught, but often those tall lanky guys just struggle doing that. Of course, I don't get to see him in practice. Maybe there is hope. He needs to come back at an NIL that says bench guy that is still developing. Even then, I hope we recruit over him.

The question shouldn't be if Atak should be back or not. He should absolutely be back.

The question should be what kind of 5 man pairs well with Reid at the 3 and Atak at the 4? They need to find a space eating, shot blocking, rebound grabbing demon.

At the very least, he can give us some offense off the bench. Playing more against second unit players could help him mask some of his defensive limits. We’ve had multiple portal players who started at mid majors and developed into solid contributors.

If Reid is back… I wouldn’t bank on it.
