The investigation just wrapped up and OU submitted our proposed sanctions on July 28 of THIS YEAR. The NCAA announces their decision right before the open of the next basketball season.

Convenient fact left out by many.

It cost OU, R. Clarke, and probably Smart as well... And possible CG and Phil jurko(( and his 87 blocks a game stat!

I understand what you're saying, but it was not just a slap on the wrist. The time it took for the NCAA to decide OU's fate, cost us a lot more in recruiting and adverse publicity than the penalties outlined here. No one will ever convince me that the NCAA infractions committee didn't intentionally drag their all-too-powerful feet to make us suffer.

Nevertheless, I'm glad it's over and that the University and everyone associated with our basketball program, including fans, can finally move on.

Do you think that this is still residue from the ancient supreme court case regarding football television rights? Or is the basketball crap as of late its own entity (something personal with Kelvin or whatever)?

Hasn't the NCAA just changed the rules on contact with recruits that if applied retrospectively would make all those text by Sampson legal?

About freakin time. This whole thing was ridiculous all the way around (OT, OU and the NCAA)...

I doubt if we'll ever know why the NCAA acts quickly in some instances and takes their sweet time in making a decision on others? I might not be nearly as upset with the delay, if I had not been witness to what I believe was preferential treatment in the past few months.

That said, it's done and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. My rant about the NCAA had nothing to do with the way things turned out. I have no respect for that organization, and my feelings are not likely to change.

I don't really care about the wins except to say when Ohio State played a quarterback that took impermissible benefits, they did not forfeit wins, he was suspended for a game. The NCAA is a joke.
