During halftime of the game, one of the analyst said that we are playing 4 against 5 because we don't have a post game. Do you guys think it is true?

Also during earlier games, we substituted Manyang in for Lattin when Lattin got in foul trouble. Other team was like wow we now played against a bigger and taller body. The past 2 or 3 games, we substituted Buford in for Lattin, our post defense and rebound started to drop. I trusted Kruger but I don't understand why????

My guess is that Buford has been playing better in practice and he's more of an offensive threat than. Manyang.

That's not what he said. He said very specifically that Lattin wasn't an offensive threat right now, hence the 4-on-5. If we had no post game at all, it would 3-on-5.

He was pretty much referring to lattin having no offensive game.

We are an easy team to defend when shots are not falling. we have no back to the basket players. We can get into the lane with our guards but they really are a below average team of finishing at the rim.

Lattin is growing up. Buford is growing up, we are talking about a true soph and RS frosh. Of course we wish we could throw it down there and get 20-10 from someone.

Its par for the course very few bigs are shaq.

I remember the comparison made of Dante Buford to Cam Clark. The more he plays the more you see it and I like it a lot!

Yep. It's why we struggle in the half court when our guards aren't knowing down tough 3's. We basically have two guys that are really, really easy to guard in the halfcourt.

We don't need Shaq.

We just need Eduardo. Or Bookout. Or Ace. Or Blake. Or Osby.

you do not need to be a back to the basket player to play in the post. i think OU's biggest problem is that they don't throw it to them down there. they both can turn, face up or drive to the basket. the coach needs to call for this and I'm willing sure you will see better post play.

When OU plays Kansas this week, if Kansas uses Mason to guard Buddy... this is where Buddy should live all day. He is to big for Mason to affect his shot and even when another player shoots... Buddy can get rebounds over Mason.

Frontcourt stats from last night (starters):

Ibeh/Lammert- 12 pts/14 rebounds

Lattin/Spangler- 8 pts/13 rebounds

They just killed us.

If Khadeem could reliably hit that 8 foot jumper that he airballed last night, this offense would be so much more dangerous. As it is now, all you have to do is make sure he doesn't get free close enough to the hoop to get a layup or dunk.

It's not always the production, but THREAT of production. Lambert is a pretty good 3 point shooter, and OU had to respect that. That made is easier for some of the guards to get their points.

Down the stretch we needed 5 guys that could shoot the 3, or at least be a threat to. We gave up size in the post, but when Buford came out top, E'bay..or what his name is had to come out as well.

What I thought was weird was horns only putting e'bay in there on D...I figured it would be the other way. Use his size against Buford offensively then let a smaller guy come in and play D, prob be a better match up that way...but what do I know.

The threat of production, statistically, is in favor of us...at least against UT. Spangler is a bigger threat from inside, outside, rebounding and at the line than Lammert. Lattin is better, again statistically, than Ibeh.

Both Lammert and Lattin had equally offsetting bad nights last night.

a 3 point threat??

kind of like ryan spangler?

wait ... spangler is a better 3point shooter then lambert so that can't be it

or the great threat of prince ibeh ... 4 ppg 5 rpg 2 blocks per game

.. maybe that is better than lattin .. wait nope 6 5.9 and 2.4 for Khadeem ..

Texas, like us, doesn't really have a back to basket player. I don't consider Ibeh because he really isn't much of an offensive threat. But yet, Texas leads the conference in 2pt FG%....why? Well, Texas "drives and dishes for easy baskets" better than any team in the conference. I wish we could adopt some of what they do....which would help our post scoring significantly. And this could also offset us having to rely so much on the jumpshot (or nights when our shots aren't falling). However, at times, our bigs have shown to not have the best hands around the rim....and that's a good deal of the problem.
