#9 Alabama Sat. 11am CST ESPN

If I understood correctly (Tunein wouldn't let me rewind to double-check), OU is the first college basketball team since 1974 to have four wins over Top 10 teams.

Figures, OU's first Big Monday game. Lon has this team playing hard, so no reason not to think they can win in Lubbock

That's right. There's no crying in basketball – unless you're UT or their ESPN toadies.

I read that as well. OU might be able to break that streak with their schedule in Feb. :chestram2:

Toby said OU didn't allow a single second-chance point today.

Really proud of Manek. You could see the glaze in his eyes in the first half when he was continuing to struggle, but he really fought through the mental hurdle to keep grinding. He played as physical in the second half as I've ever seen him play in an OU uniform. Although he missed a few, I thought his shot looked much better and more in rhythm in the second half. I really hope that we are seeing him incrementally get back to where he was.

Come on, man! We get another great win against a top ten team, and that’s the only thing you have to say?

It wasn’t the only thing I said. I also said it was a great win. Love this team. The FTs are just frustrating because we’ve been poor at the line for several games now. That will eventually come back to bite us if it’s not fixed. You know that to be true.

I love this teams toughness. They continue to show up and fight like hell every game and I respect that more than anything.

How important were our transfers in this game?

Gibson: 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals

Harkless: 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals

I know there is still a lot of ball left to play in the season, but what are your current projections for OU's tourney seed? Can they get up to a 3 seed? I assume they are 4-5 range now ... definitely want to avoid the dreaded 5 seed.

Might be the best defense we have played as a team since Sampson

I get that...all of it. But, this was a time to be happy with a win no one, including me to be honest, would have predicted, especially with two of our starters in Covid protocol. I’ve got a feeling you also know that to be true. Am I right? :)

For me, that was the best win in the post-Buddy era. I loved everything about how the team played today. Extreme effort on both ends with a total commitment to attacking and rebounding. It was a tremendous effort and I give Lon a ton of credit for having them ready and for the improvement we’ve seen over the past month or so. These teams is tough and that’s not something I’ve really felt about this team over the past 4 years or so. Excellent all around today. I think Lubbock is kind of a bad spot, but these last three wins have created a house money situation for that game.

Before the game, Jay Bilas picked Bama, saying, after the other two prognosticators cited our missing players, "I don't care who's playing for Oklahoma; Alabama has Herb Jones."

If anyone hears Bilas, whom I really can't stand, eating crow (or refusing to do so), please report it here.

They are already in range of being a protected seed (#4 or better) based upon (4) Quadrant-1 wins. If they keep playing the way they are currently, a #3 is absolutely realistic.

Yes. The post you quoted was right after Gibson missed the front end of 1&1. The game wasn’t over, at least my stream wasn’t. I was watching on the iPad away from home. Anyway, I am extremely happy and proud of this team. Despite all of the obstacles, they fought through everything to get the win. That’s toughness. Love it.

I'm razzing you.

Manek was PISSED when he got benched one time. Slapped his coach's hands, threw his towel after he sat on his chair. But i like a little fire in em. He just wants to win. But its a fine line with pouting. He did a great job getting some tough boards today. He needs to not press, hell get going again

I agree, I don’t mind when he gets fired up but he needs to channel it in a good way and it is definitely a fine line.

This team has been so fun to watch this month. Playing a second game against a really good team without two starters in just over 48 hours may catch up with us Monday, but even if it does, it shouldn’t take away anything from what they have done. Love the defense and overall effort and how about the rebounding?!?

I missed it! Great win. How’d we do it with those guys out? Unreal.
