Aaliyah Chavez 2025 Offer

Chavez would be the answer to our glaring weakness this year - a taller pg that can score and distribute and take over games when others are struggling. That, I believe, is what's keeping us from winning these closer SEC games - if Verhulst and Beers aren't 'on' then we have little options at a consistent basis. Fingers crossed we land her!

Can she make goals, defend and distribute. We desperately need someone who can do all three.

I imagine we will not be able to land her because that would just be a miracle and almost too good to be true. So I'm going to bed that we land a transfer guard or two and have to settle with that.

Why would she come to be coaches by Jennie? All she will teach her to do is turn the ball over.

I rather her in a Oklahoma or South Carolina uniform but I have a feeling she is a Longhorn 😕

Yeah, since UT's coach was just seen at one of her games and then she set a date after, makes me think she's going to be a longhorn, BUT I wonder what that'll end up looking like - she won't be able to just shoot it whenever she wants to, and will be pushed to earn a spot on account of Harmon having 1 year of eligibility remaining...she may regret it, if that's where she ends up.

I also wonder if Tech is digging deep into their pockets like they did in softball. Even if she ends up there I just don't see them being a legit title contender next season, could be wrong though.

UT is on a heater on the court, would make sense they parlay that to recruiting.

OU, while winning, hasn't beaten that top-level of team like UT has. And hasn't recruited at a level like UT has in over a decade.

For not having recruited at Texas level for over a decade, we somehow managed to beat them twice last year and win the conference. And probably should have beaten them this year we were up 10 at one point.
I never said OU hasn't beaten them. But this year, they haven't. And UT beat South Carolina, who beat us worse than a rented mule. This year, they are better.

I think Jennie will eventually get some more top talent to come to Oklahoma, it will Just take time. I mean the talent she has right now are not bad at all. She does good with who she has which I can give her that because Sherri Coale sure in the hell couldn’t, later in her coaching career. Sahara was a 5 star. Which is the first in a LONG time. Jennie wanted Darianna Littlepage-Buggs who is at Baylor now and is their BEST player. When Jennie got the job here at Oklahoma Darianna was already committed to Baylor but Jennie still reached out dispute her already committed else where. I think Jennie wanted to see if she would change her mind on staying home but I think Darianna was very committed to Baylor and promised them Im sure. I TRULY want her back home. She will have one year of eligibility and is GOOD 6’1 Wing/F who can score and REBOUND extremely WELL. We have been on some top prospects top list just have yet to make a break just yet. Aaliyah see’s something in Oklahoma and Jennie for her to put us in her top 4, so Jennie is doing something well/right IMO.
With us returning Beers, Verhulst, Z. Vann, Beatrice, Reyna the others, I hope Keziah Lofton is as advertised and makes a impact which I think she will. Idk much on Brooklyn Stewart, 6’3 F, hopefully she is competitive as well. I hope we get some good players out of the portal as well this offseason. 🤞🏽

The Oklahoman has an article on its website listing the top 20 candidates for Super 5 Player of the Year in girls basketball. 17 of them are seniors. None are coming to OU. Among the schools signing them are Auburn, Utah, Baylor, Michigan, Kansas, and Oregon. Lofton is not listed because of her injuries this year.. Thought JB would have done a better job of keeping in state talent at home.

Her poor recruiting, and inability to get her team to value the ball, will keep her from winning at a significant level. We will make the tourney, but that's it. She isn't getting elite-level athletes to come here. She isn't coaching the girls she has to value the ball.

There is a reason Jennie only went after certain players in this class from this year in state recruits. Keely, Keziah and Hjelmstad but Hjelmstad has been committed for over a year or longer for Utah.

Dude, this is her 4th season and she took over a team that did not have more than 12 wins the prior 3 seasons before she got here.

McDonalds AllAmericans Pre Jennie
Courtney Paris, Ashley Paris, Madi Williams, Abi Olajuwan

Under Jennie:
Sahara Williams, Payton Verhult & Raegan Beers

In 4 years she has almost matched the prior history of the program.

It took Dawn Staley 6 yrs to finish better than 4th place in the SEC. This was not Tennessee or Texas that she took over...but yes in order to be better she needs elite level talent...but it doesn't happen over night.

247 ranked the 2025 class for OU as 13th in the country. If they get chavez its top 5. Beers was #1 in the portal last year.

even if we don't get Chavez as long as JB gets 2-3 productive transfer players (pref 2 good guards and 1 backup forward or center) I think we'd be just fine.

Poor recruiting? Get real we are not competitive in NIL $$, why else did Keeley Parks got to a program that is at best middle of the pack Big 12?

Not to mention Keziah and Brooklyn were selected McDonald’s All-American nominees. Keziah more and likely won’t get selected but Brooklyn has been playing but im not sure if she got selected MAA. Keziah has miss a lot of basketball due to her injury. She didn’t play ball this past summer and I believe she is still not playing. Last I hear she was Slowly making her way back. Keziah ALSO dropped big time in the rankings with her being out for so long. Because she was a top #30 prospect at one point of a time.
