The girl from Norman isn’t anything special tho just go get someone better in the portal.I’m still in shock that Kansas got the Norman girl over OU.

Can she make goals, defend and distribute. We desperately need someone who can do all three.Chavez would be the answer to our glaring weakness this year - a taller pg that can score and distribute and take over games when others are struggling. That, I believe, is what's keeping us from winning these closer SEC games - if Verhulst and Beers aren't 'on' then we have little options at a consistent basis. Fingers crossed we land her!
Hate pointing out the obvious, but getting an AA PG back does tend to help the cause. For not having recruited at Texas level for over a decade, we somehow managed to beat them twice last year and win the conference. And probably should have beaten them this year we were up 10 at one point.
I never said OU hasn't beaten them. But this year, they haven't. And UT beat South Carolina, who beat us worse than a rented mule. This year, they are better. For not having recruited at Texas level for over a decade, we somehow managed to beat them twice last year and win the conference. Her poor recruiting, and inability to get her team to value the ball, will keep her from winning at a significant level. We will make the tourney, but that's it. She isn't getting elite-level athletes to come here. She isn't coaching the girls she has to value the ball. The Oklahoman has an article on its website listing the top 20 candidates for Super 5 Player of the Year in girls basketball. 17 of them are seniors. None are coming to OU. Among the schools signing them are Auburn, Utah, Baylor, Michigan, Kansas, and Oregon. Lofton is not listed because of her injuries this year.. Thought JB would have done a better job of keeping in state talent at home.
Dude, this is her 4th season and she took over a team that did not have more than 12 wins the prior 3 seasons before she got here. Her poor recruiting, and inability to get her team to value the ball, will keep her from winning at a significant level. Not to mention Keziah and Brooklyn were selected McDonald’s All-American nominees. Keziah more and likely won’t get selected but Brooklyn has been playing but im not sure if she got selected MAA. Keziah has miss a lot of basketball due to her injury. She didn’t play ball this past summer and I believe she is still not playing. Last I hear she was Slowly making her way back. Keziah ALSO dropped big time in the rankings with her being out for so long. Because she was a top #30 prospect at one point of a time.Dude, this is her 4th season and she took over a team that did not have more than 12 wins the prior 3 seasons before she got here.
McDonalds AllAmericans Pre Jennie
Courtney Paris, Ashley Paris, Madi Williams, Abi Olajuwan
Under Jennie:
Sahara Williams, Payton Verhult & Raegan Beers
In 4 years she has almost matched the prior history of the program.
It took Dawn Staley 6 yrs to finish better than 4th place in the SEC. This was not Tennessee or Texas that she took over...but yes in order to be better she needs elite level talent...but it doesn't happen over night.
247 ranked the 2025 class for OU as 13th in the country. If they get chavez its top 5. Beers was #1 in the portal last year.
