Whoever got hired, someone on here was going to be disappointed, but from a pure "coaching" standpoint, OU is now back at the top of the B12. There is no spinning that, it is just a fact. We now have arguably the best coach in the conference, not potentially, but factually. Dude has done way more than anyone but maybe Barnes and Self, but has done more with less than either of those guys. I'm pumped.

Once he gets the current guys to buy into his system and then he gets HIS recruits to fit HIS system, we can make some noise in the Big 12-2 after the '11-'12 season. As long as he doesn't have another octuplet quadruple bypass surgery or whatever he had a few years ago.

I think that he is the kind of guy that can evaluate his players and go with whatever "system" it takes to win. Not saying we are going to win the conference or anything, but we just got a guy who is amongst the Top 5% of his peers as far as experience and proven success. Exactly what this program needed at this juncture.

Listen, I love the hire too, but let's ease up on the crowning of Mr. Kruger as one of the very best in the business. ;)

Lon Kruger is the perfect hire for the situation we are currently in. He will build the program back up into a winning state, be clean, and leave it in a better situation than what he found it. At the time he leaves/retires, we'll hire another coach that can look at the OU resume with us having winning coaches throughout, and any probation will be an afterthought. It's a win.

Other than Stevens it is as good as we could get. You are not going to get a coach from a school that annually recruits nothing but 4* and 5*. He was my second choice.

He hasn't even made it beyond the 1st round of the NCAA tourney 80% of his career. He's had some nice moments, but don't go overboard.

You have 4 posts, all of them slamming Kruger or OU fans who are excited to get him, something you apparently joined the board, to do. Pardon me while I say that I don't give two hot damns what you have to say.

Truth hurts...Sorry. Acting like this guy is some amazing coach is blind homerism. He's average it's right there on his resume. Nothing more nothing less.

Average? Really?

The guy has rebuilt FOUR programs, coached in the NBA, and has been considered a good (if not great) coach for about the last 30 years. Like I said, I'd put his resume up there with any coach in our conference and yes, given that resume and experience, in the Top 5% nationally [there are what, more than 300+ D-1 programs?].

I was in the camp that thought Capel should get one more year, I'm over that completely with this hire. LK might not win a NC or even a conference title while he is here, but you can bet that we'll be danged competitive given his track record. He's done more than BCG, Turgeon, Drew, Hoiberg, Martin, and Ford, and about the same as Barnes and Self...the new Mizzou coach is TBD.

You can call me a "homer" all day long, doesn't hurt my feelings, where OU is at is at a way better place than several of the programs LK took over, and I'll take his coaching ability over anyone else in the conference. THE ONLY question in my mind is how well he'll recruit. But bottom line, one of the Top 15 programs in the course of the last 30 years just got one of the Top 15-20 college coaches in the last 30 years to run it...spin it however you want.

You probably just described about 80% of the coaches in America.

It's obvious by the limited number of posts you've made since you arrived that your only purpose is to bad mouth Kruger and rain on our parade. If you don't like this hire, that's fine. Just express your opinion without being a jerk or coming across as a troll. Yes, the truth does hurt.

Me too. Pastner or Buzz brought energy but Kruger is the better coach and has much more experience. We were real lucky Joe C. talked him into it and persisted when USC,Utah, and Oregon failed in previous years.

Forget a parade, I was out with a date last night and saw the ESPN scroll...I popped out of my chair and danced a little victory dance. For what this program needed; who "realistically" is a better get than Lon Kruger? I'll pose that question to the "realist".

Kruger will leave the program in the best shape when it comes time for him to retire. It won't be like this time when our program was in the dumps. That is a plus in itself.

Sounds like some people have a hidden agenda with our program. I think the University of Oklahoma did the right thing considering the circumstances that our program is under. Joe C. brought in someone who not only can coach, but can market the program and get some fans in the seats. Coach Kruger will also be able to handle the sanctions that are brought against this program if any. I think his style of play will excite the fans because he will be able to get a better type of recruit at Oklahoma. GOOD LUCK COACH KRUGER AND BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:clap

Well, I'll be darned. A FaithfulSooner sighting.

Welcome back, Faithful!
