Because we are jammed/full on scholarships, we are basically dead in the water on the transfer portal and in recruiting unless OU's best player leaves the program. So OU's only chance of bringing on more talent is if losing your leading scorer, shooter, and overall best player occurs which would likely end up being worse for the team.

And, it looks like the top assistantscoach is leaving the program.

Which means OU is essentially returning the same team as this year, minus Goldware/Johnson/Chargois (20 ppg), minus the top assistant, and adding 3 true freshman.

Is that the gist of it?

Rick, AK, Alston, and Gibson have all yet to decide. Right? So as few as 0 portal scholarships and as many as 4. I would prefer to keep Gibson and AK and go get two best options, one in post and one at PG.

Ok, that is the difference then. I didn't realize Rick/AK/Alston had a decision to make.

Yep, as it stands today, the only way we have improved, other than the growth of the current roster off-season, is if one feels Schroeder, Uzan, and Oweh are better than Goldwire, Johnson, and Chargois. I am not sure anyone would assume that to be true.

But I have to think Big Rick is probably out the door, just based on PT and his almost transfer last spring. With Mo's family situation and his age, I would have to believe he would be likely to leave.

IMO, at worst we have 1 spot open to the portal and maybe 3. The odds are unlikely all four leave. At the very least, I feel we are in a good spot that to have brought stability with the current roster and still have an opportunity to improve with recruits and the portal.

Much better shape than last April and a lot of seasoned players are leaving the Big XII for other teams.

Does anyone really think Porter would be out visiting guys, and that Tanner and Jacob would talk openly about likely adding a couple portal guys, if the team wasn’t completely confident that there will be open scholarships? These things always work themselves out. There is no way we will go into next season without any additions beyond the three incoming freshmen.

I will also say: having very little roster turnover a year after so much chaos there is not a bad thing. We were a solid team this year that flirted with the tournament. Our floor will be lower to start the year if we don't bring in anyone else ... but our ceiling will be higher.

Offseason improvements from 10 of 13 players, 10 players getting another offseason in coach's system, and addition of three athletic guards with offensive skill and college ready bodies.

I think we'll be a better team overall by conference season than we were this year even if we add no one else. Get two starter level guys from the portal (especially a post player), and we can be really good.

Players get better as well. Another year in the system. Top 80 recruits coming in.

The sky is always falling on this board. We will be fine.

We already have 3 more dudes. I don't except much out of the German dude yet but plenty of time to add even more players after we get 3-4 more openings

going to be very interesting to see what he's like in year 1. One would think it would be a wild transition, but the counter is he is playing against men currently, so the physicality shouldn't be a shock.

all i can seem to find stats wise, is showing he played only 10 games (out of 16 by the team). But in those 10 games? :chestram2:

30.6 mpg, 27.7ppg/7.2 rpg/3.4 apg
61% shooting, 30.2% 3P, 72% FT

dude is extremely aggressive going to the bucket. Shot selection per game:
9.3 twos (making 7 :clap)
4.3 threes (making 1.3)
10 free throws! (making 7.2)

shows strong rebounding, and some nice playmaking at 3.4 apg.

Good info. I've seen him listed recently at 6-8 also. IF that were true what a weapon at wing..

Wow i haven't seen you post in a long time. Its been 3 years actually. Where you been?

Interesting post. Those numbers look good. Im still leery about us hitting on a foreign player after freeman..

haha little here, little there. started an ou site as well that broke off from rivals to try and get rid of some of the annoying guys since the $1 promos have pretty much ruined that board lol.

just need to get this one back in my normal process for basketball.

Thanks for the web link, dahldennsull! Good to see you back!

I see there’s another Schroeder on that team, Florian a 6’ 5” SG, likely Benjamin’s younger brother by roughly two years. He doesn’t play much and his stats aren’t impressive, but he may fit Moser’s plan of building for the future.

Mutiny! For shame

Starting to sound like a guy that might grow into a stretch four as well. Nothing wrong with having a 4 that can handle the ball and drive to the rim from the perimeter.

I'd be good with that too, as long as he's a physical rebounder. Groves needs all the help he can get rebounding, and OU has been small at guard(at least last year). It also would be nice to have someone that can fill it up at the stretch 4 although I like Hill's rebounding and defense.

I like Tech's model of being big/long across the board and the guards we just signed will really help with that. Hope they all have a great summer..
