Another kruger collapse

There is absolutely no evidence of Capel coaching a team with this much talent and experience falling flat on their face on a regular basis as they have under Kruger.

Mid season I was singing Krugers praises. But let's face it, this team crumbled and they have too much talent/experience to wilt the way they did. It falls on the shoulders of the guy making over $2mil per year. He failed.

You're overvaluing the "talent/experience" factor.

The "talent factor" in 2009-10 couldn't overcome horrible chemistry. That was a preseason Top 15 team that won 13 games. :facepalm

They were so awful that year that I was almost embarrassed for a UTEP fan who tried to talk basketball smack after the Sun Bowl to OU fans passing by his tailgate site. Beating that OU team was absolutely no achievement. And, I might remind folks that Lon Kruger was still at UNLV at the time.

Are you sure about that. I will give you a second to ponder that.

Capel had WW, TGM, Tinay Gallon, Tony Crocker, Fitzgerald, Cade Davis, Pledger, Ray Willis, Ryan Wright and Orlandon Allen on his 2010 team. Based on recruiting rankings that is one of the most talented teasm ever assembled at OU. Two McD AA (with Gallon being deserving), 7 top 100 recruits, plus a kid from Oklahoma with a lot of drive and above average talent and topped off with a near 7 footer for some added size. Those guys were 13-18 on the season and 4-12 in Big XII play. Lets look deeper. 15 of those 18 losses were by double digits.

We're going to the dance, boys, no matter what some are saying. Maybe a couple of weeks from now we'll all be singing CLK's praises.

Exactly. And as disappointing as the last several weeks have been, if we can manage to win a game in the tournament....I think all will be forgiven.

I don't expect them to play like veterans...Kruger can play his veterans though. He can have a lineup of nothing but juniors and seniors on the floor.

And pledger and Fitz did not deliver today. Nobody but can and Ro did

Shh... you'll only confuse him with facts

TMG, Tiny Gallon, Fitz, Pledger were freshmen. You need to understand that....they were freshmen. Kentucky has way more talented freshmen this year and they are barely going to make it.

Thats the problem..you expect way to much to early.

No one had great expectations with that many freshmen, but they did expect:

1) Progress over the course of the year
2) Winning over 50% of their games.

That wasn't too much to expect.

What can you deliver in 5 minutes?

Fitz is the one who played 5 minutes, Pledger played 35.

If Kruger had the benefit of hindsight and knew his senior two guard would shoot 3 of 11 from the field (1 of 6 from three) and fail to score a single point in the second half, he would not have left Pledger on the floor for all but five minutes of the game.

Fitz should get a pass. No way Pledger deserves the same consideration.

UNC, that same year...Deon Thompson, Ed Davis, Tyler Zeller, Larry Drew, John Henson, Travis Wear, David Wear, Dexter Strickland, Leslie McDonald

16-16 (5-11 in conference) on the regular season

UCONN same year

17-15 (7-11 in conference)

Jerome Dyson, Kemba Walker, Stanley Robinson, Alex Oriakhi

Uconn was in the final 4 the previous year and UNC won it all....and the following year with all that talent produced nothing.

Fill free to tell me which rosters you prefered to have?

Wow, what hospital did they take him to? Not him that did, well you ask the wrong question then. Another collapse bye Oklahoma players.

Either one. They both had better records that year than we had in tougher conferences.

are you sure about that??? KU 1 seed, K-st 2 seed, aTm 5 seed, Baylor 3 seed, OSU 7 seed, Texas 8 seed, Mizzou 10 seed.

Tougher conference??????? 7 teams made it to the tournament that year.

And OU went 1-4 against the teams that didn't, all of which were terrible. What's the point with all this? Are you arguing that season wasn't an unmitigated disaster?

I'm saying you expected a lot out of a bunch of freshmen.
the league was pretty tough that year
Other teams like UConn and UNC with way better freshmen had horrible seasons as well and they both ended ahead of us the year before.

Has HCLKs team always been this inconsistent? We have as much game experience as anyone in the league and we have layed some eggs this lat month.
