I want to apologize to those that may not have understood what I was trying to say, regarding (what I consider) the ceiling for this team. I no way was I trying to bash our team, players or coaches. Matter of fact, the only player I've every criticized/doubted from our team on this board is JW.

The only thing I was trying to say is for the posters on here that thought, and still think, we are a top 10 team with FF aspirations, just to lower your expectations. It was only a recommendation. I believe that we are a top 25 team, lock top 4/5 in the Big 12, and ~5/6 seed in the NCAA tournament. I got called an OSU troll for this, and I find that hilarious because these are still great goals! We've only done better than this, 1 or 2 times in the last 10 years - I'm more than happy with these results!

:chestram2: Here's to hoping that everything comes together, ending a good result on Saturday. We need the W!

No big deal, DapperD. You aren't the first, nor will you be the last to caution some of us about our unreasonable expectations. It usually starts in the preseason, but to tell you the truth it's an annual event following a couple of good games when the team performs well. Even I have been forced to temper the lofty prediction I had dancing in my head like jubilant little fairies with wings after the blow out of UT in Austin.

As for the suggestion that you might be an OSU troll, that was just boca being boca. You'll learn soon enough that he gets a kick out of stirring the pot every chance he gets. I did notice that he added an "lol" after his post, which seems to suggest that he was having a little fun at your expense. Better get used to it, or you can always use the ignore feature on him. ;) [the wink emoticon means I'm joking]

Nothing wrong with what you said dapper...frankly it was hard not to get excited after the Texas game...I don't try to lock into season expectations for this or any OU team because you never know what a team will do on a given night especially considering these are kids18-22.the disturbing thing seems to be the apparent regression of JW and the lack of ball handling skills overall...but there is time to get it figured out.

Honestly as an OU fan I have no problems with people going crazy after losses (which I am more then guilty of pretty often) - to me it shows people care and are passionate about OU bball. As long as a person isn't an outright troll OU needs as many fans who really care about this team as they can. Apathy which seemed to be running rampant before Kruger came on board is the worst thing possible imo.

I have to say though 1 thing I think people forget is how much of a history OU BBall has of winning - when I see people with low expectations for this team and program as a lifelong follower it bothers the hell out of me. We have a great history and we should expect our team to do that history proud.

We shall see. Maybe it's just a coincidence the week of the OSU game, right after our KSU stinker who OSU beat, we have these new posters who all seem to agree OU is not very good.

They happen to DVR OSU games and compliment them for such a great gameplan etc in a double digit loss where they shot 31% claiming they would have won had Forte not cramped. Stating that not only is Thomas our best player this season (Buddy is) but the best OU big of the past decade other than Blake (Osby, Gray, Bookout, Longar, Gallon, M'Baye, Carter, Clark, etc). Saying how excited he would be if we got a 5 seed (same as last season) because OU rarely does that well. Sure seems fishy. BS antenna up.

Hahaha- although Idk about the Tiny Gallon reference though..he wasn't that great

How about asking if we are nervous about OSU because of how well they are playing? Or if we started overhyping our basketball team because our football team fell apart? Who was it we choked against? OSU lol

Strange questions for an OU fan to be asking with an unusual amount of references to lil brother.

I usually watch the teams we are about to play. I would have watched the OSU v KU game in real time but I was too busy watching MY Sooners play! I don't recall complimenting them on their gameplan vs KU. I said they play hard, and seem to be better than WE thought. I'm not sure that's a stretch... As far as the Thomas situation goes, I just can not win with you. I compliment one of our current players by saying he's arguably the most complete big we've had in the last 10 years and you still freak out over my every word. FYI Bookout and Gray were over 10 years ago now, that's why I said "10 years." And yes, I would be excited with the 4-6 seed that I'm expecting. Not many people would be disappointed with that outcome, with the exception of you, I suppose... Get off my case, dude.

There are people on here making threads about "whos worse - JW or Spangler" and "Kruger should be fired." Yet you come after me as the OSU troll.. Makes a lot of sense.

As far as everyone else goes, I'm glad we are on the same page! Hope we can get an important bounce back win in LNC this Saturday.

And I wasn't the only one who said Thomas is our best player. Are those people osu trolls too?

You're fine, DapperDan. Keep posting :)

I'm okay with those who may be a bit overly-passionate when we lose...as long as they're also here when we win. If they only show up after a loss or two, then I generally don't pay any attention to anything they say.

If anyone has/had those aspirations, they've had their head in the sand since the end of last season.

I agree with much of this, the thing the program needs almost as bad as anything is passion (although it is difficult for me to see coach x needs to be fired after every loss or player a isn't even a d1 player, etc type posts).

OU fans should hold the Basketball program to the high standards that have been achieved in its rich history, not dropped lower to make losing "easier" on the fans. I will never understand the mindset that we need to adjust expectations to avoid disappointment. Instead of adjusting expectations, we could try adjusting numerous other components that would likely be much more impactful.

You just have to learn to ignore Boca, he gets paid to troll (well, not sure about the getting paid part) but you get the picture, never take anything he says seriously

You left off Spangler. The guy practically averaged a double double last season. 9.3 rebounds and 9.6 points.

Thanks, will do from now on. I guess I just don't like being accused of trolling for just talking about our in-state rival. I'm new to posting, but I will learn to ignore his replies.

boca loves Gallon, he had a high recruiting ranking.

Tiny averaged 10.3 on 55% shooting and 7.9 rebounds as a true freshman on the most dysfunctional OU team in history and was #47 in the NBA draft.

Thomas is averaging 11.6 on 56% shooting and 5.9 rebounds as a senior on a very stable OU squad and likely won't even sniff an invite to pre draft workouts.

Imagine if Tiny came to OU with Buddy & Spangler under Kruger instead of playing through the TMG WW saga under Capel. How good would he be and how much better would OU be right now? Lots better.

Gallon averaged 19 and 9 in the NBADL last season. He's only 23.

This

Tiny wasn't the issue, he stays 2-3 years in college, he would have been a beast. Not saying he was a lottery pick, mostly due to measurements, but he would have been real good.

I was just messing with you because you always talk about recruiting rankings. I think Gallon was a good player and could have been special.

You're delusional if you think Thomas won't be considered for the draft. He probably would have been drafted had he left last year.
