Even though it is about the men's side I found it troublesome since we are a 5 seed. But if you feel like the sooners were as good as most 4 seeds it may not be so worrisome. You will need to carefully read the article to understand that last sentence.

Five seeds may be jinxed in men's basketball, but that doesn't apply to the current state of the women's game.

There have been exactly 100 matchups of 5- and 12-seeds in NCAA tournament play. The 5-sseeds have won 80, while the 12-seeds have won 20. That means that all-time 12-seeds win an average of four times in every five seasons, a 20% winning percentage.

In the last ten years their chances have been even smaller. 33 of the last 40 5-12 games resulted in wins for the 5-seeds. That means that in the last decade 5-seeds have only won 17.5% of the time.
