Asia Robeson

Kalamazoo to Auburn. Crazy.

I really hope 2 more post kids are visiting soon.

This is why you have to offer kids than you have spots.

Absolutely true. Getting word out to recruits that their is competition for the scholarships they are offered gives you some additional control on the timing of commitments and a option B is already in place if you lose out on option A.

Moreover option B was determined when you had all your options on the table not after most options were gone and you are left scrambling.

Unless Hillsman is planning to visit, I don't know what other options we have for a high school player.

Maybe well have to wait until 2015. There will be alot of post in that class.

Mac,
didn't sign a post last year, now not signing a post in 2014. You cannot keep pushing off these key positions.
OU's loaded at wing/guard with maybe the best overall talent and depth ever.

But no inside athletes could cost them a final four run.

While I am disappointed about Asia, especially to a school like Auburn, I don't think we are or will be destitute in the interior.

I completely agree. We have good guards, both this year and next. Griffin is very inconsistent but she is tall which helps. Who is going to play center next year is anyone's guess. Whoever it is, I doubt it will be an upgrade over Griffin. I thought this was the perfect year to at least sign a top 5-10 center as they would have almost been a guarantee to start but those hopes are fading fast.

The issue is right now for 2014
Kaylon is your starting center next year.
Kellogg is your starting PF (unless OU goes 4 guard which they may need to out of necessity).
Gibbs is the backup at both.
I really hope Kaylon rebounds quickly from her injury and Kellogg/Gibbs show signs of being contributors as freshman.

meanwhile OU is nearly 3 deep at

I looked at the Prospect Nation 150 list for 2014. It was interesting how many post players had not committed.

Yep, there are still some really good ones who are uncommitted. The problem is, it doesn't seem as though any of the special players post players are going to visit OU.

When you have that many uncommitted, is it because they have so many offers----or so few? How good are the posts in this class? Are there more than about five or six that the name teams want? Would they rather have another player rather than the remaining posts?

It seems as though teams never have enough really good bigs. I suspect that means most of the top interior players are getting all the offers they want. I think OU would be happy with just about any of the post players ranked in the top 7 or 8. There are also some really good forwards uncommitted.

You would think with as many really good guards and wings we have on this team, with more coming in the future, that the post players would be lining up to play with them. It's hard to understand why we have trouble recruiting bigs. :facepalm

As someone mentioned on another thread: No Hansmeyer or anyone who even remotely knows how to convince a big to come?

I cannot fathom for the life of me how we can sign quality guards and decent 3s/4s but we can't even get the dregs at the post? It absolutely makes no sense.

Given our history of post players, can I assume this is a rhetorical question?

But, we've never really had a post player who satisfied us. Let's see, we had the #1 player in the nation, along with a sister who was #4, either of whom could have been the top post in the nation in almost any year. But, they were overweight, couldn't run the floor, and couldn't shoot free throws. Eventually, one did lose weight, with no real improvement. Yet, everyone thought she was so much better.

While they were still here. we got another McDonald's All-American post who just sat there for two and a half years. She enjoyed being at OU, but she was overweight and couldn't shoot free throws. If she had just wanted to play enough to practice more, or if she had redshirted, we would have been great. Well, except that she never did lose weight or shoot free throws.

We also had a big center from San Antonio. But, she was overweight and should have redshirted. Then, she was lost to injury forever.

Then, we dropped down to a Wisconsin POY who was only about fourth string All-American. She could even hit free throws. But, she needed to GAIN weight. If she had just worked out and gained weight.......

Blake Griffin might have been perfect, if he hadn't been male. He had no need to gain or lose weight, but he still couldn't hit free throws.

Wishin and hopin.

Everyone knows Courtney was a great player but, she could have been better. I disagree about Ashley, it was easy to see she was a better player on both ends of the court when she lost weight and got in better condition.
