Curious to see what Kruger does here. I have heard that he may promote Mike Shepherd from DBO and hire his son Kevin Kruger.

I trust he will do what is best but I sure hope whoever he hires can develop post players and recruit the state of Texas.

Thoughts?

So.....We go to the Final Four and lose two great assistants. Josh Pastner flips to GA Tech and he brings along Bobby Lutz, who coached DI basketball as a head coach for 12 years and has a 218-158 record as a head coach and spent years as an associate head coach in the ACC.....and we get Kevin Kruger (Lon's son) who has 1 year as a grad asst. and 2 years an Northern Arizona?

At least Shepherd has been around the block as DBO, having been with Lon at UNLV.

Somehow, I can't get extremely excited about the thought though.

You'd think we could do a lot better than that. Maybe hiring Lon's son as DBO, promote Shepherd into one of the spots and hire an experienced guy with some solid recruiting ties?

I saw that OU assistant Scott Thompson was joining Henson at UTSA. I guess Toby will be looking for another guy next year for game broadcasts.

To be honest, I was hoping for better assistants.

I heard Kruger say to Al yesterday, he was going to hire one assistant coach this week, the other later. He was going to take his time with the second hire.

This told me Shep is getting promoted for sure. The next hire will be interesting. Connecting dots leads to Wade Mason or Greg Grensing but Coach also mentioned there was a lot of interest for the job.

This was reported awhile back here.

From everything that I have ever heard, Shep does a great job doing what he does. My most sincere hope is that Kruger will let him continue doing that. Kevin would be a good choice. He was a good college player. a good pro, and young enough to relate to today's players.

Regarding Shep, what? Like I said in another thread, if he is promoted to assistant I sure hope he can recruit a little..

I see some of you are kvetching before the assistants have even been hired, let alone named.

Bold move!

Learned a new word tonight... Good job!

Come on Stik. How could you hang around this board and not be well versed in the art of kvetching? If our guys didn't have something to kvetch about, we'd have a board full of unhappy posters.

I don't think I really busted my kvetch out. I said I HOPE he can recruit. Man, it's a gonna be a long way till November.

I'm hoping for one of the spots to be someone other than Kruger or Shepherd, and ideally, keeping Shepherd in as the DOB would be nice - our scheduling has been really good.
