After next weekend's games, January will be gone. At that point, we will be at about the midpoint of the conference season.
At that point I predict the standings will look like this:
Texas ...9-1.... beats Kansas in Austin, wins at K St.
Baylor ..7-2.....beats Tech in Waco, loses at WV
OU........6-3.....beats WV in Norman, wins at I State
OSU .....6-3.....wins at Kansas, beats TCU in Stillwater
W Virg...5-4.....loses at TCU, loses at OU, beats BU in WV
I St ......4-5.....beats TCU in Ames, loses to OU in Ames
K St......4-5.....wins at Tech, loses to Texas in Manhattan
TCU .....4-6.....beats WV in FW, loses at I State, loses at OSU
Tech ....2-8.....loses to KSU in Lubbock, loses at Baylor, beats Kansas in Lubbock
Kans.....0-10....loses to OSU in Lawrence, loses at Texas, loses at Tech
If it reaches that point it is pretty clear how we could end up at least tied for 1st at the end. Baylor & Texas play at Waco. Assume BU wins. Then each has 2 losses. We beat each in Norman and don't lose any others, and suddenly there is a 3 way tie for 1st. Note that I'm not saying it is likely. Just that it is possible without any miracle events.
What is your prediction about the standings at the end of January? Am I close?
