Getting ready to tip on ESPN at 1. Looking forward to see how Baylor's athletes play together.

Baylor down by 2 against San Diego St 7-5 14:29

Baylor goes to the half up 2 after being up by 5 or so.

miller looks really good. they're going to score easily, even without a point guard. even if they don't defend any better than you'd expect, they'll be competitive.

Looked like the same Baylor team to me.

Poor defense

Undisciplined on offense

Lots of talent

Scott Drew or Jeff Capel....

....GO!

Easily Drew.

Capel without Griffin has two losing seasons and an overall losing record (43-51).

Drew started off in an awful situation and essentially built that program from nothing. He's gone 91-47 in the past four years, which is better than any four-year run Capel's had (at VCU or OU).

Now... if you need a coach for one game or one play? That's a tougher call. But overall Drew is clearly the better coach.

Capel did beat Drew twice last year with considerably less talent.

True. And actually now that I look at conference games only, Drew's best four-year run is 32-32... which is exactly what Capel's best four-year Big 12 run is.

I still think Drew's mediocrity is more sustainable, while Capel had a slightly higher ceiling and a dramatically lower floor.

I think that last sentence sums it up nicely.

I would love to see Capel coach against Quin.

Quin was 2-1 against Drew, but Drew also put the nail in Quin's coffin (he was fired after a 26 point loss to Baylor).

Drew and Capel are basically Quin without the coke. Take away the mess he got himself into near the end and IMO Tyler Hansbrough and Brandon Rush are both Tigers. Would've been really interesting to see what Quin could do with that (essentially his Blake Griffin).

Meh. My take on Quin is this: He was a slightly better coach than both Drew and Capel, but you really can't say "What if he had gotten these talented players?" Quin had a few that were every bit as good as Hansbrough or Rush. At least numbers-wise. That's what I remember, but then I was quite young during the Quin years, I just remember them being pretty talented.
