Ben McCollum

Where in the committee criterion does "power four team" come into play? Hint: it doesn't, because it isn't a factor. Drake's loss at UIC was a bad loss. OU losing at home to Georgia Tech would have been a bad loss.
We can disagree on this, I believe the selection committee does not look only at analytics, but do have some discussion which will include consideration on the schools loses. Name recognition and conference recognition plays a part.

Intention to discuss, not to ruin it. Happy new year.
Man, lighten up guys, I'm just having fun with it.

Let's discuss do we have any chance tomorrow? I didn't realize they have three 6'11" guys for their front line. That sounds more daunting than Michigan's two 7 footers.

Different bigs. Bama is guard oriented. UM everything was ran through them.

We have to limit sears.

sounds like keeping them off of the offensive boards will be a big challenge as well. I know they will get boards but we have to limit somewhat don't you think? Seems like it could be a game where Glenn Taylor has to have some moments defensively. Hopefully we don't have to depend too much on Wague off the bench but we may have to.

I could see a lot of Taylor. Especially quick if Elvis struggles or doesn’t give us much on both ends.

I think this is the big question about how we do in conference because I think our guards can match up with most teams but the frontline will be our challenge.

Drake moved to 18-2, but had to go to overtime to beat a 7-14 team. You have to wonder how McCollum would do against an SEC schedule.
He is 3-0 against power conference teams this year, including a win over the team that beat Kentucky today. And if he coached in the SEC, he wouldn’t be coaching a roster with four kids he brought from D2. Something tells me if you have him SEC quality players, he would do just fine.

Couldn't be worse than 1-5.

Sounds like Twitter troll Three Year Letterman. "He can't handle the grind of an SEC schedule!" :ROFLMAO:

Ben McCollum would do fine in a major conference with the ability to recruit major college talent. Better than the current coach we got from a Valley school.

Over a team that beat Kentucky? You mean Vandy?

OU beat a team who beat Wisconsin...

Such a weird Uber spin take you make.

Btw not disagreeing with mccollum in sec or at OU, but just a take you would totally rip apart if someone else made it.

Huh? He asked a question about Ben. My answer didn’t even reference Loser in the slightest.

I think Ben would do well anywhere because he is a good coach. Three games aren’t the basis for my conclusion. It’s the fact he wins a ton of games with a roster that has very little talent.

I get your point but flexing that we're 2-4 vs 1-5 is outright depressing from where this program should be
Agreed. It shouldn’t be a huge shock that I didn’t expect OU to win tonight. Glad they did though.

Maybe just don't assume we're going to lose? I mean, you don't have to predict a win, but maybe just hold your water until the game is played. That level of negativity gets so old. A loss tonight was by no means a certainty entering this game.

As for the accusation that was I flexing--that's not what I was doing. I was pointing out--and objecting to--the premature negativity of the post. Had someone made a similar post claiming a Sooner win in advance of tonight's game, they'd have most certainly have gotten called out and/or mocked for it.

The team is 15-4. We have four Q1 wins. It's ok to be hopeful and even positive this at this point. Trying to be among the earliest to write the team off is an odd goal, but a number of people on this board seem to have their sights set on it.

Three Year Letterman is hilarious. The parenting advice regarding sports tweets are quite comical

Drake now 20-2. Some school is surely going to grab him after this season. His agent must be working feverishly behind the scenes.

I imagine they "officially" don't discuss it but everyone knows each others' interests, especially now that football P4 conferences are all represented on the committee. And most of them are probably honest, but Greg Byrne from Alabama knows first hand how tough the SEC is without looking at stats sheets. It's kind of hard to avoid motivated reasoning and think the teams you saw against your own program are better than someone you haven't watched.

UNC's AD is the chair this year. AFAIK they still have the rule where he's supposed to leave the room every time his team is discussed. That just makes it worse! Would you look forward to telling the chair you nixed his team while he was out taking a whiz to follow protocol?
