Ben McCollum

UNC's AD is the chair this year. AFAIK they still have the rule where he's supposed to leave the room every time his team is discussed. That just makes it worse! Would you look forward to telling the chair you nixed his team while he was out taking a whiz to follow protocol?
UNC may be taking care of that problem for committee members playing like they did tonight.

BTW, Philip....I went to Vandy for a year. West End, Exit/In all that. Jonesy's. Saw a lot of great music in Nashville. I had some family stuff that meant transferring back to be a part of it. I woulda been class of 90. Obie's pizza?

The main Athletic college hoops writer wrote that Indiana should go after McCollum. We undoubtedly could have had him last year but will never get the chance now.

Indiana dream candidate is Brad stevens, who told them no. Their next choice appears to be dusty may but that’s a tough pull.

Their tier 2 candidates are: mick Cronin, Scott Drew, and the Clemson coach.

Ben McCollum is listed as “other” possibilities along with Chris beard, mcasland, Jans, and otzelberger.

My Indiana friend tells me they’re on Pitino, Otzelberger and Stevens.

i think our best bet is to take a chance on an assistant somewhere........and hope for the best.

Stevens said nope
Stevens isn’t coming back to coaching IMHO. It’ll be interesting to see if Indiana can hit a home run here. Their brand is still strong but not what it was 10-15 years ago.

It’ll also be interesting to see what UNC does if they miss the tournament. If they can Davis, will they stick to their stubborn insistence to hire within the Carolina family, or will they look for the best possible coach?

i said last year that i am really interested to see where iowa state’s j.r. blount winds up. i thought it would be a pretty big reach for us, so i wasn’t suggesting that. but now i don’t see it any riskier than kellen.

definitely not going to break the bank for a new coach, so probably need to go cheap and risky. hoiberg would delete joe c’s voicemail without a listen.
