Is the Big12 really going to get 8 teams in the tourney? And OU isn’t going to be one of them? Ouch.

Too bad we couldn't even compete with them when they were at full strength.

Funny thing is they still would be able to lock us down defensively. Their athleticism is quite a bit better than ours.

It is obvious that he underestimated the difference in physicality/athleticism in the big12, but we have to factor how our lack of NIL/fan support hindered his ability to land top athletes. He tried to get plenty of better players in portal but they almost all went to bag schools.

Just have to hope we incrementally improve, and peak in year 4 with a nice ncaa run. The high school recruiting should be beyond any reasonable fan’s expectations so far.

The fan issue is nothing new and yet the last four coaches have attracted talent, even when other programs were offering bags and we weren't.

As for what what is being offered now via NIL, if you have facts and figures on that, I'd sincerely like to see them. People keep saying we're falling short, but I've yet to see anyone back those statements up.

Moser is on record saying we didn’t have NiL lined up last year so we didn’t get any of the portal big men, nor Bryce thompson year before, and many others that went to schools who are on record w the ncaa for paying players. And Moser is attracting talent. We have 1 key player from Lon’s team in jalen hill. It takes a lot of talent to win in this conference.

Yea, it’s nothing but excuses. There has been no indication that the majority of teams in our league are shelling out major money in NIL deals. Anyone can throw out unsupported claims that we are losing because we lag behind other programs, but that doesn’t make it so.

We had three but two of them transferred after a year under Moser. And there were several others who hadn't committed elsewhere when he was hired. I'm not saying it's all on him that they left but he did have the chance to try to convince at least some of them to stay.

And no offense to Coach Moser, but he's scrambling to right the ship and keep his job and it's expected that he'd be trying to come up with reasons why he's struggling in the portal. It doesn't mean we're getting the whole story from him. What else is he going to say? "I can't seem to attract top-level, athletic big men"?

Again, if you've seen a list of the players we've lost because of money, I'd very much like to see it. Please be sure it includes what the school they chose offered, what OU offered, and what other schools offered. If you can't, no problem. I can't provide such a list either. But if you're going to cite that as a major reason Moser is struggling in the portal, I'll need more than vague allusions and assumptions to be convinced.

Spot on.. I’m amazed at what people think he’s suppose to say? Lol… ya, it is on him. We’ll see… give another crappy year like this one and he’s gone… I hope

This is true from everything I've heard around the football team. Gabe Ikard and Teddy Lehman mentioned on their pod, OU's rollout of NIL was not organized. They had multiple collectives and prospective players weren't sure of OU's best offer and where it was coming from. Think this was all solved with the 1Oklahoma collective, which is for all sports.

Let's assume this is true for purposes of this post. It still doesn't mean that other schools were better organized. I think a lot of schools were caught off guard and took a few months to get something set up. There might be a few exceptions, but unless someone can point to facts, I find it hard to believe that TCU, KSU, ISU, OSU, WVA, etc., all had a single collective in place, and, more to the point, that they all had substantial offers lined up for basketball transfers.

When a player is asking ou for money and they end up signing with ku, texas, baylor, osu, tech, you don’t need any receipts to figure out what’s happening behind the scenes at those schools. Osu was just banned from the tournament for paying players. Ku should have been, too. You and Sky really need more evidence that they are buying players?

Perfect example of OU fans talking out of both sides of their mouths.

You are clearing talking about Thompson with OSU. So he left one school that pays for another? And money was THAT important given who his father is?

But more importantly, all I heard from most of you was how overrated Thompson was. Heck, I heard it this year too. But now we're worse of as a program because we didn't "buy" him?

I listen to every episode of Gabe and Teddy's podcast. Gabe was involved in one NIL group that's since been folded into another one (can't recall which one). If either Teddy or Gabe ever said anything along the lines of "OU is dropping the ball when it comes to NIL and it's impacting recruiting," I didn't hear it.

The school can't be involved in NIL--not legally, anyway--so it's likely that every school's NIL efforts was "unorganized" in the early going.

The following site has the collectives : https://www.on3.com/nil/collectives/?page=6
It appears OU nils are heavily tilted to football. Many were were founded in 2022. All I can say is Moser did not have the NIL support to get the portal players some of you desire. KU has NIL collectives geared to basketball.

And none of us are complaining about not being as good as one of the four or five best programs in history. We do, however, expect him to not finish last in the conference and get blown out by two of the other teams likely to finish in the bottom four.

If you're speaking of blue bloods, of course they had more NIL money to offer. If every player that could have helped us went to a blue blood, we have no room to complain. But I strongly suspect that's not the case.

Couple of crazy games today across the country. The Iowa comeback was outrageous, and Arizona State made a shot from several feet beyond halfcourt to win at Zona. I thought Zona made a mistake by not missing their final FT on purpose. I don’t get why more teams don’t do that when leading by one with only two or three seconds left and the opponent out of timeouts. Made for an exciting finish, though!
