Big 12 tonight(11-16)

You got me.

I concede, OSU sucks, OSU players are thugs.

Here's the thing: I do not actually believe any of those things, and if that's what you took from my comment, then I don't know what to tell you. Your seeming inability to understand any particular statement as being something other than an OU sucks/OSU sucks argument is pretty revealing.

You got me.

I concede, OSU sucks, OSU players are thugs. You're objective observations are much better than my biased ones.

I only wish OSU could have a basketball program on the level of OU's. Envy got the best of me.

Go away

Both state schools will end up being very average this year. I think both will have some decent futures though. But we were lucky to have the eras that Kelvin and Eddie both had in the 90s/00s we may never see the state schools quite at that level again.

Early games are early games, Pitt lost at home tonight to Long Beach State, weird things happen early in the season. And Guerrero, Cobbins, B. Williams, Nash, Jurick are 5 important parts of the rotation that were playing their 3rd collegiate game, this is probably Ford's most talented team, but they're still pretty young. They have the potential to be really good, but if they don't figure out a semblance of half-court offense, it will be a long season.

But, UTSA is probably a top 150 team in the nation. Return 4 starters from a team that was in the NCAA tourney last year. And, their point guard is the only guy who didn't start last year. And he's pretty good, too. Or was the last two nights in the games in GIA.

this is not the "most talented team" under ford ... that starts and ends with James anderson .. who is much much better than anyone on the court for this team ..

osu should feel good about getting out of GIA with a win last night all it took was about 6 homer calls (or no calls) in the last 3 min of regualtion ..

i will say there were no homer calls in the last 20 sec so good on osu there

and it looks like guerro can shoot ... thats great that makes 1 guy on the team that can

:clap:clap:clap

I never join the crowds who want fans of other teams banned, but this guy obviously just wants to come here and flame the board, present weak trash talk, and probably run back to his home board and brag about, " how he told dem gooners". With so much hatred for everything OU related, I wonder why someone like him/her would even bother to join an obviously Sooner themed board?

It just goes to show what happens when the captain of the team doesn't play. Page is important to the composure of the team.

That was a good win for these guys because they did it without their leader on the floor. There is a week off before this team leaves for NYC so now the coaches have 3 game films to teach from.

UTSA is well coached and will be competitive in their conference. They had a couple of fine guards out there also.

Cezar Guerrero plays hard with a big damn smile on his face. I'm not sure why that makes him a punk. The Freshmen and Sophs. are very talented players and it will be fun watching them gel.

I think the Cowboys will look much different come January.

TMG scored 38 points against Iowa State. It was one of the best offensive games by a freshman ever in our conference.

And not a single damn was given when he left.

Up to this point Guerrero is nothing like TMG. Guerrero plays hard on defense and is loved by his teammates. Also Page has said that this team has the best chemistry of any team he has been on. Guerrero is very cocky, but if you are a good teammate it doesn't matter.

If need be Ford can put Guerrero on the bench to change any attitude problems. Capel never had the depth at PG to do that to TMG.

You guys are completely wrong on cezar. He is like the anti-masongriffen. Just read his previous interviews. He only talks about workin hard everyday and hoping to earn minutes. And i believe this board posted how he was struggling in practices earlier, which was completely opposite of the truth.

I agree with this, James Anderson is much better than anyone at OSU this year. Nash could be that good in the future, but not this year. I do think this team has by far the most depth and talent coming off the bench.

Laughing at people for bashing a D-I basketball player for being "cocky" or a "punk". Kid is six-foot nothing and weighs nothing, you need that edge to be successful.

His performance will probably not happen again this year (dude did chuck 17 3's), but kudos to him for stepping up.

Ya who gives a crap... kid is a good player.

If TMG were a punk off the field but was a good team player on the field I wouldn't have given a damn about him being a punk. Fact is he was not really that good a team player. Haven't seen enough of Cezar obviously but he looks nothing like that with TMG.

As usual, Dignon brings teh logic.

Given the sheer number of young and inexperienced guys on the floor, Page is easily OSU's most important player this year. He didn't play a single minute last night and OSU won a game that it had no business winning.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that this team needs some serious work on offense. I really do think a big part of it is that there are so many new guys still feeling each other and the game out. It will probably improve.

The big disappointment for me wasn't even the offense last night, it was the defense. There was just a lack of effort and intensity in the second half.

Looks like it is really going to hurt seeing so many guys we chased after pretty hard wearing puke orange for 2-4 years.

Cezar
Smart
Jurick

:(

I'm not suggesting LK won't get us where we need to be, but you cannot tell me it wouldn't be nice to have those guys. Gotta think Jurick > Arent, at least so far. Cezar would give us another scoring guard immediately. And we all know how good Smart is suppose to be.

UTSA made the second round of the NCAA tournament last year and returns 12 players from that team.

OSU has 6 freshman and 1 first year Jr in their rotation, I guess by OU standards they should dominate after 3 games.

LOL... Like Sam said, they weren't a true 2nd round team last year. They won their play-in game.

They were only 1 game above .500 going into March last year, and this was in one of the worst conferences in the country. Not to mention, they needed a miracle 3-pointer to escape ORU prior to last night's game.

Give them credit for going on a 5-game win streak to be one of the last teams to get in the tournament last year, but I simply do not think they are as venerable as you are implying.

Good point about their youth. I'm not trying to suggest that the sky is falling for Ford's program or anything, I just expected more out of a team that many on here were purporting to be very stout this season. Maybe OSU can validate those sentiments as the season progresses.

As for Long Beach State, I mentioned this in another thread but I wasn't as shocked to see them win at Pitt as others were. They were 14-2 in the Big West last year (not a great conference, but not a bad one either) and retained that same core this season. It wouldn't surprise me much if they gave Louisville and Kansas fits in the next couple of weeks, either.

Agreed. That was mainly where my questioning towards the extent of OSU's legitimacy lies. Who knows though, last night's subpar defensive performance could have been just an anomaly.

Well, one thing is that UTA was just flat making shots in the second half. They shot 50% from 3-point range in the second half (5-10), which is how they got their lead in the first place. IIRC, they only had 1 or 2 turnovers in the second half after committing like 8 in the first half.

Sometimes, the other team just plays really well and makes shots.

In the 3 games I've watched, OSU has played really well defensively for 5 halves and poorly for 1 half. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until I see more 2nd halves like last night.

And by "many", you mean thebigabd, right? :D I haven't seen any OSU fans making brash predictions about this year. And they weren't picked very high in the media poll.

What I've said all along is that this is a mostly young, inexperienced team that does have a lot of athleticism and talent. But it's yet to be seen if they can be molded into an effective team yet.

I see some signs that say "yes", and others that say "no." As is normally the case with young teams, we'll need to wait and see.

One thing is very clear after last night. We're a much better team when Keiton Page is on the floor.

Haha, well I wasn't necessarily talking about posters making outlandish predictions; rather, that I remember many posters stating something along the lines of "this will be Ford's most talented team". In fact, I recall you saying the same that this will be Ford's "deepest and most talented team"... And I certainly think you have a point.

Simply put, if this is Ford's deepest and most talented team, then I'd expect a team capable of making it past the first round to perhaps along the Sweet 16 (since Ford's best team finished in the round of 32). That's why last night's underwhelming effort was puzzling based on who Ok. State played and the talent and depth OSU has been expected to field.

But again, it is too early to make conclusions until fans can see how they do with KP on the court, and whether or not the team can work cohesively.
