Big 12 tonight(11-16)

I'm sure OU would hate to have a freshman point guard who can score 29pts in his 3rd game of his career and single handedly win the game for the team.

No one wants a cocky punk like that on their team.
we had that in TMG

Haha, well I wasn't necessarily talking about posters making outlandish predictions; rather, that I remember many posters stating something along the lines of "this will be Ford's most talented team". In fact, I recall you saying the same that this will be Ford's "deepest and most talented team"... And I certainly think you have a point.

Simply put, if this is Ford's deepest and most talented team, then I'd expect a team capable of making it past the first round to perhaps along the Sweet 16 (since Ford's best team finished in the round of 32). That's why last night's underwhelming effort was puzzling based on who Ok. State played and the talent and depth OSU has been expected to field.

But again, it is too early to make conclusions until fans can see how they do with KP on the court, and whether or not the team can work cohesively.

Some great points here.

If I could edit my previous comment, what I would probably say is that this is Ford's deepest and most athletic team...

And I do think that this team probably has more top-to-bottom talent than those two NCAA Tournament teams... the difference is that (a) the talent is inexperienced and (b) both of those teams had a "best player" or "go to guy" (James Anderson) who was much better than anything on this particular team.

So where as those teams were successful because they had one superstar surrounded by some talent that had a lot of experience (Eaton, Harris, Muenelo)... this team will need to be successful by exploiting their deep bench and better overall athleticism.

I also think that, because of the youth and inexperience, this team will look totally different later in the season, as compared to right now. The question is, will that "later in the season" mark be mid-January or mid-February?

If it's the former, this team could make some noise in March. If it's the latter, then it will probably be another NIT year.

I agree with all of this. I expect them to improve just like most young teams do, it's just the timing on when they start to gel will be what is critical. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Nice avi, stoops.

Credit to sky and senior sooner for the majority of that write up. It is a couple of years outdated but the point still stands - OU is every bit as good as OSU in basketball (and a fair argument could be made that the Sooners are a bit better historically).

In the end, its two 20-30 all time programs and its not too shabby for a football state! :OUbball-logo:

Appreciate it. 6th Man was such an underrated movie, and I don't care what anyone else says.

I can't decide if the movie's only flaw is that Travis Ford played a supporting role in the film, or that Travis Ford's only cool aspect is that he played a supporting role in the film. I'm ambivalent. ;)

I never saw that movie. Did Travis Ford call anyone a "f-ing idiot!"? :D
