Big announcement from Kruger

A letdown IMO. I thought they were going to make them free.

It's a better deal, however I think the notoriety of the promotion is actually the bigger seller than lowering the price point. Everything is charged to the bursar anyway.

so, the price actaully went up for people who go to the game? Or are they still going to give a refund?

The refund is still in place for those students who bought tickets at the $140 price point. Those students will also automatically get a $100 refund.

So basically, students who bought at $140 will pay $40 if they go to less than 14 games, and will get their tickets free if they go to 14 or more games.

Whereas everybody who buys them from here on out will pay $40 no matter how many games they go to.

Exactly. 90% chance this makes the front page of the OU Daily tomorrow, which is actually great timing as tomorrow is the one edition of the Daily that people actually pick up (as it has the preview for the football game).

Agreed.
Think the University could have just eaten the last $40.

Why not free popcorn, hot dogs, and soda, too? And backrubs during halftime, and postgame limo rides back to the dorms and frat houses?

Perhaps the university could arrange to have someone write their term papers while they're at the games, too.

Right... you know they have to pay people who dedicate their lives to OU basketball. Coaches, trainers, office workers, arena workers, marketing people, radio people, sound and video people, etc.

You can't just have free stuff.

i'm guessing a lot of places have free games for students.

Its not that much difference. What is the average student attendance? 1,000? So $40,000 for the whole year is what they would be losing. Its not like they would be giving them away to everybody.

Bottom line, you want more students? Start winning

i had absolutely no idea ou student tix were so cheap, or that student attendance was so poor. pretty amazing.

But I think prices are built into the fees all students pay, so they don't have a choice.

Would love to see the look on Kruger or another coach's face when Castiglione says they are cutting $40,000 out of their operating budget.

This.

When I was in college (from 00-04) tix were around $90ish. I don't remember for sure. We were a much better team, so student attendance was better. Even then, though, the bad non-cons were sparsely attended. It can be hard to go watch a blow out against Alcorn St, when the hot chick in Walker 8W invites you and your friends to a party with her sorority sisters.

That's one bottom line. The other? You want more wins, students (and alums, for that matter)? Start attending the games and make your presence felt.

Which is why I make it a point to not get to know any girls here. :vitale

So THAT'S how you've managed to stay single.

Walker sucks. Can't believe I lived in that hell-hole for a year.
