OU is not playing any Big Monday games this season.

Is that the first time? Has to be.

And KSU leads the league with 4 games. WOW

This season is getting more and more exciting to be a season ticket holder...

I have a feeling our Sooners will pull off a few upsets during the conference season. If so, ESPN may regret not giving OU at least one Big Monday appearance.

In the end, this doesn't really matter at all. If anything its motivation. This team doesn't deserve a Big Monday appearance anyways. All this team has to do is play hard 40 minutes a night, and as fans we still have to support them. TV or no TV. Last I checked, a win is still a win, even if it was not broadcasted on national tv.

It matters in recruiting, BIG TIME. You don't want to become a program that never appears on TV when the lights are shining the brightest. Recruits aren't lining up to watch Studio 66 in Doug Bell's mom's garage on Saturdays at noon.

It does matter in recruiting, but lets face it you can't go 13 - 18 and expect to be on Big Monday the next year. Last years team did nothing to warrent being on Big Monday this season

Which is why many posters reacted so strongly to us going 13-18. It's a big deal to have that kind of fall-off, especially when it happens two out of four seasons. It doesn't take long at all before a program is off the radar of talented recruits. You can be a strong program for thirty years, but if you have three bad years in a row, many highly recruited kids won't be interested in you. Their grasp of history and tradition is limited, to say the least.

That's also why it's a big deal to go to the NCAA tourney year in and year out, even if, in some of those seasons, you suffer an early upset.

We really need to have what's widely viewed as a turnaround season this year. We certainly don't want to go two years in a row without appearing on Big Monday, and two straight seasons -- and three out of five -- that find us on the outside looking in in March would be bad news, too.

YES!! So know we won't miss the first 10 minutes of the first half because of the boring Big East games that always take up more than 2 hours even if it isn't close.

Agreed.

However, I am guessing it will be 3/5 years under Capel with no post season play. Hopefully I am wrong...

I can understand the nonconference schedule being a let down for home games but I am not sure how this would affect it. This only affects game times and while Big Monday games are a fun atmosphere I always thought it was as much the opponents since you are already at the arena. Just cause we didn't get any Big Monday games doesnt mean the Big 12 is going to cancel OU games vs OSU, Texas and KU. I think this would be more of a let down to non season ticket holders who live out of state.

It would be a lot more of a let down to someone that cant come to games, but it is still a let down for me because i know how much the kids get up for the games when they know the lights will be on bright...

That then reflects in game intensity as well as crowd intensity...

It's not a huge thing, but its just another factor to be down about...

Reguardless, i'll be there and enjoy watching the Sooner team as much as any in the past...just with a lot lower expectations...a total flip from last season...

Well technically KU also has 4 games so they share that honor with their buddies Kansas. The state of Kansas will definitely be tuned in for Big Monday this year.

On one hand, it sucks we don't play any big monday games, but on the other hand, I'd rather not be on national TV when we go to KU, OSU, Texas, etc. The fewer people that see us get beat by 30 the better.
