Blake Griffin's dunks on Pau Gasol

Bynum's reaction:

There are no words. :clap

And of COURSE it was over Pau, on both occasions....who else could it possibly be???

it was funny in the 4th when Blake made a downcut from the top of the key as Paul penetrated ... Paul got him the ball as he crashed into a clear lane to the basket and Gasol made DAMMMMMMM sure to stay out of the way as Blake monster jammed it.

Bynum's reaction is great. The shot of the dunk from brhind the glass is the best. Blake just bulldozes Gasol out of the way. I thought he was going to snap in half.

Please tell me how the second one isn't an offensive foul?

Another BG victim! :clap

This time it's Pau Gasol, one of the most skilled bigs in the NBA. Gasol is also one of the biggest wimps I have ever seen at this level. Maybe this will teach him to man up the next time the Lakers play the Clips.

How should he man up? Just get out of the way so he doesn't take a flying forearm to the face?

I'd say the first one is closer to being a foul, of the over-the-back variety.

First one I thought was more of a no-call, I can see Blake being allowed verticality (with a bump, ha) to finish around the rim. Pau wasn't exactly really fighting for position and trying to block out.

The second one, by the book, is a Flagarant 1 at any level for elbow/forearm contact above the shoulders. Don't expect that to be called on a play like that, but it has to be an offensive foul. Bledsoe got called for an offensive foul on a similar play in the first half that was no where near as deserving.

I have to agree. It was an offensive foul. NBA allows it so NBA.TV and ESPN can show the highlights on TV.

Yep. It's why I cringe when people suggest the NBA is "better" basketball. If borders on WWE-style entertainment too often for my liking. The flops. The obviously intentional fouls.

Kobe had a great game, with some impossible looking jump shots that went in. Chris Paul could not be guarded in the fourth quarter, at least by any Laker. Bynum had 36 points. Yet the first thing NBA.TV showed was Blake's first dunk; obviously, they are emphasizing the "wow" factor...

Exactly. The Heat/Thunder and Laker/Clippers were both good games, and nothing in the NCAA tourney including the Final Four came close.

Lets watch some more 40 second shot clock basketball, with missed three pointers, and guys who dribble with one hand.

As they should..Blake is the money maker now he is on the billboards in LA, not as much Kobe billboards anymore.

He's the most exciting player in the nba already.

Blake used his forearm to clear out for the dunk. Before Gasol could do anything, he was receiving a forearm to the jaw. If Blake was as passionate about playing defense, as he is about dunking and pointing into the crowd, he would be dominant. Right now he is just a highlight reel guy who gets abused on the defensive end. If Bynum/Kobe were not killing their porous defense, Gasol could have dropped 40 on Blake with simple drop steps and basic post moves......

Going to find a lot of people who disagree with this.

Both of those were offensive fouls and the second one is close to a flagrant when he elbows Gasol in the head.

Eventually somebody is going to lay Blake out a lot worse than Jason Smith did. It's just a matter of time if he keeps bulling over people.

Agreed, if the officials aren't going to stop that kind of play someone is going to go low on Blake and completely take him out. Minor miracle Matt Barnes didn't take a cheap shot.
