6'3" shooting guard from Plano... Preferred walk on for 2014

A quick twitter browsing and I'm convinced he will fit in just fine with "the Kruger way"

Highlights on the new walk on.

Looks like he'll fit right in. Big character guy. 6'4" SG, fairly athletic. Should be a great practice player with a chance to improve and see the court down the road.

Doesn't appear so, no.

He tweeted that he committed as a preferred walk-on. Not saying he's getting a scholarship, but maybe the staff just promised him the extra one if we were short one season since scholarships are on a year-to-year basis.

This guy really excites me because playing against someone of this caliber can only make our starters better. he has some talent.

Future guest star in a James Fraschilla trick shot video?

I don't think the "preferred" has anything to do with a scholarship.

I think it simply means LK recruited him, and wants him on the team. As opposed to him being a kid that simply enrolls at OU, and has a try out for one of the walk on spots.

That is my take. Would the kid get a scholarship for a year if the team has an extra one? I dunno, maybe. But I really don't think that is the gist of the "preferred" part.

If he is really 6-4 or 6-5, this guy has redshirt candidate written all over him.

This is exactly what a preferred walkon is. The coach is affirmatively recruiting you, and guaranteeing you a spot on the team, but is not offering you a scholarship.

The CJ Cole thing is closer to the football greyshirt, which doesn't really exist in basketball.

If that's him finishing on those plays with the dunks, etc then that is the most athetic walkon I think i've ever seen. He has no other offers? Unreal.
