Does anyone know what Bryan Sallier is up to? Last I heard he was coaching AAU, but that's all I've heard. I still say the 1992-93 (or was in 91-92?) OU team would've been a Final Four team if he hadn't gotten hurt in the Big 8 Tourney. He was my second favorite OU player of that era behind Brent Price.

Heh...I just posted about him in the thread about Goff.

I don't know where he is, but he was a stud. If I remember correctly, he was a top rated tight end in high school, but wanted to play basketball instead.

I can still see Sallier rolling around in pain on the Kemper Arena floor. That injury was the last nail in the coffin of the Tubbs era. We get to the NCAAs as a 4-seed, but lose to SW Louisiana.

I wouldn't call that '92 team a Final Four contender, but the Sweet 16 would not have been any big surprise. Looking back at their draw, they would've have had the hated Dookies in the Regional Semifinals. Too tall a task for that bunch.

Wasn't that the year Duke lost to Cal and Jason Kidd? Or was that the next season?

Sallier was a WIDE body with a soft touch around the rim.

Sallier, Slim Patterson, Jackie Jones, Skeeter, Cheese Davis, Ken Conley, Brent Price, Jeff Webster, Terry Evans....there were some GREAT players in the late 80 to early 90 time period,,,not to even mention Mookie, stacey, etc.

Just think if a few of the others would have made it to Norman if it wasn't for grades issues, etc: Anthony Cade (former Mc D's AA who played at Connors St), Orlando Lightfoot, and there was another post player...David Gems or somehtign like that that had grade issues.

Those were GREAT years for OU b-ball!!!!!!

That was the next season. Sallier got hurt in the '92 Big 8 Tournament.

But I misread the brackets earlier when I checked Wikipedia.....we were the 4-seed out West. 'Twas a much easier road, going through UCLA or Indiana rather than Laettner and that group of jabronis.

The 1993 team gave Duke all they could handle at Duke. I remember that game because Duke pulled out to a huge lead and Vitale kept screaming for OU to start the bus the game was over. OU came back to send it to overtime but fell by 4. If I recall correctly, Sallier was having a huge game but took an elbow and had to leave the game to get stitches.

The 93 Duke game was likely Angelo Hamilton's best game as a Sooner. Back to Sallier, the guy was one of my favorites. He had real nice touch for a big guy and was defintely an AA TE in HS.

I have very fond members of sallier. Two stand out. First, riding in team plane sitting next to him. Second, at the all college, our seats were messed up so they put us at a table off the baseline and he was running to save a ball and landed on the table an in my dad's lap. He joked with my dad and I thought he was just very cool.

A lot of people do not know that he was also an awesome tight end and many thought he could have been a better football player than basketball(undersized) post/center) and I asked him about it and he said that he had to go with the sport he loved.

I wish that we could place j Henry in jc and get him. Then I wish that we could get grant and sallier kid. Just think it would be cool to get those guys involved in the program with their kids. Also, I wish that they all could just be close to the players that their dads were.

Dude looks mean.

When he played, he looked more like a big teddy bear. His eyes are half closed, so it looks like he was ready to get in bed. :ez-laugh:

In the 91/92 season when he got it going, though, man he was really good. His injury was a huge blow to our chances that year. If he stays healthy, I think we win the Big 8 tournament and probably are a 3 seed in a different region which gives us a good chance to be a final 4 team. We were really hot down the stretch that year.
