Stay healthy, Buddy!

@OU_MBBall: Wow! @buddyhield scores game-high 30 in 20 min. off bench for #Bahamas in 88-72 L to P-Rico. 6 for 7 on 3's. http://t.co/TaE6nyBQXH #Sooners

@ryaber: #Sooners Buddy Hield (listed as Chavano Hield on the roster), scored 30 points (11-18 FG, 6-7 3 pt) in Bahamas’ 88-72 loss to Puerto Rico

If Buddy can shoot .86 percent from beyond the arc for us this year, I think we've got a shot at a good season.

It is interesting that Larry Eustachy is the coach of the Bahamas' team. Brings back memories. He has been around the block:

1978–1981 .. Citrus CC (asst.)
1981–1986 .. Mississippi State (asst.)
1986–1987 .. Idaho (asst.)
1987–1989 .. Utah (asst.)
1989–1990 .. Ball State (asst.)
1990–1993 .. Idaho
1993–1998 .. Utah State
1998–2003 .. Iowa State
2004–2012 .. Southern Mississippi
2012–present .. Colorado State

Head coaching record overall .. 402–258
AP National Coach of the Year (2000)
Henry Iba Award (2000)
Big 12 Coach of the Year (2000, 2001)
WAC Coach of the Year (1995, 1996)

Iowa State .. Eustachy was named head coach at Iowa State in 1998 after Tim Floyd resigned to become head coach of the Chicago Bulls. Following a lackluster first season, Eustachy led the Cyclones to the best season in school history in 1999-2000. The Cyclones won a school record 32 games and came within one game of the Final Four. After leading the Cyclones to a second straight Big 12 Conference title in 2001, Eustachy signed a contract extension that, with incentives, made him the highest-paid state employee in Iowa.

Controversy .. On April 28, 2003, The Des Moines Register carried pictures of Eustachy kissing several young women and holding a beer at a party near the University of Missouri's campus just hours after the Tigers defeated Eustachy's Cyclones on January 22. The Register also reported that Eustachy had been seen at a fraternity party at Kansas State hours after his team lost to the Wildcats. On April 30, athletic director Bruce Van De Velde suspended Eustachy with pay and recommended that he be fired for violating a morals clause in his contract. Eustachy held a press conference in which he apologized for his behavior and admitted he'd recently begun rehab treatment for alcoholism.

Eustachy initially indicated he would contest the suspension. Instead, on May 5, he announced his resignation. During the photo scandal, the Register reported that Iowa State documents showed that the NCAA cited Eustachy for rules violations related to paying players, including Jackson Vroman, for making free throws.

Let's hope Coach Eustachy is not giving party lessons to Buddy down in Mexico. Since Coach Eustachy is now 58 years old, he should know better.

lol.....who from the Bahamas is good enough to start over Buddy?

Buddy is probably easily the big cheese on the Bahamas basketball scene. He was probably just being his gracious self by giving the other kids some of the lime light on a just awful team.

We should all be so lucky to be under the partying tutelage of Larry Eustachy. Hope Buddy is taking serious notes.
