Calipari is a scumbag, but...

Well, no sense in trying to convince the hard-headed.

I'm just trying to be rational, thats all.

My gut says he's dirty, but I don't have proof. So I don't make accusations.

I just won't be surprised if ESPN blows up someday with stories of Cal being involved in all kinds of shady stuff. He just seems like that kind of guy to me.

If I have a blue chip son deciding on where to play college basketball and aspirations for the NBA, I am sending him to Kentucky to play for Calipari.

If Capel couldn't ruin Blake Griffin, that shows me it really doesn't matter who coaches your blue chip son.

Griffin was on another level from many recruits.

Look at Josh Selby and Xavier Henry at Kansas. Both ranked top 5 in their class. Both were projected as top 5 picks in the ensuing NBA draft. Selby rode the pine for KU, Self didn't use him right, and Selby slipped all the way to the 49th pick of the draft, late in the second round.

Adrian Payne at Mich State was a 5-star PF and widely considered a big one-and-done, but 3 years later he's still at MSU and not even projected on draft boards.

Same could be said about Kenny Boynton at Florida, Rakeem Christmas at Syracuse, just about any big recruit Texas has had recently :ez-laugh:

It definitely matters where you send your blue-chipers if they really want to be in the NBA.

Griffin was obviously way better than all these guys though.

I don't think it will be long before Coach Kruger is pulling in NBA talent pretty consistently.

I believe we already have some future NBA guys in Amath, Buddy, and Osby.

Now lets just pull in Julius Randle next year, and we'll be set :woot

Very good read. This quote in particular struck me: "The reason is, if you're not all about them, they know it. If you care more about your own success than theirs, they know it. But once you get them to realize that you truly care about them, they'll trust you, and you can coach them however you want."

I think the reason Calipari has blown past guys like Coach K and Roy Williams, is that he has accepted and embraced the fact that these elite prospects are trying to get to the NBA as their number one goal, and he does all that he can to help them achieve that goal. He cares about their success and does his best to help them out, and they appreciate that and give it their all for him the one year they're in town. The results speak for themselves.

Some of you guys just need to except the fact that some of these guys just work harder and are better recruiters than everybody else. I'm not a fan of Scott Drew either, but he is at every big aau tourney and puts in more time than about anybody. I've seen it with my own eyes. Until he is found guilty of somethin I will quit dogging him!!!

Scott Drew was caught cheating this year. Baylor is currently under NCAA sanctions because he was caught breaking the rules. So feel free to dog him now.

Really? I missed it. What did they get him for? Then I should use Cal as my example. If we can say Barry Switzer just out worked other coaches and had great charisma, why couldn't that be the case with these guys. I'm not sayin they are squeaky clean, but they might be. Not fair to just assume things!!
