Sources say he is interested and hasn't "connected" with the Kentucky administration in his first year.

Could get interesting and some big recruits could be back on the market.

Calipari's biggest selling point is that he can get any recruit he wants. He won't get that in the NBA, so why would the NBA want him?

The Bulls need to hire Avery Johnson.

Avery Johnson? He was a total bust in Dallas. The team revolted against him.

Derrick Rose is lobbying for Calipari and supposedly Cal is also very close to Lebron for whatever that is worth.

Calipari is an average coach with a slick mouth. He would get eaten alive in the NBA. Oh wait, he already did.

Total bust?

  • First coach in NBA history to win NBA coach of the month in his first two months.
  • Chosen to coach the western conference in the all-star game.
  • 2006 NBA Coach of the Year
  • Led Mavs to first ever NBA Finals Appearance

He got fired for having a 23-24 record in the playoffs. He was 194-70 in the regular season. I never heard anything about the team revolting against him. He lost in the first round of the playoffs (Rick Carlisle, anyone?) and got canned. Thats the NBA.

As for Derrick Rose lobbying for Calipari, who cares? Since when do they let players choose coaches? Again, Caliparis greatest asset is being slime and getting whatever recruit he wants. He won't have that in the NBA.

It would be a terrible move for Calipari.

I tend to agree that Cal is better suited for the college game, but to say he can't coach in the pros is a little ridiculous. He may not be an elite pro coach, but there's no reason to think he couldn't be competent. Its not like he had great players in New Jersey, and thats the name of the game in the NBA. Plus the Bulls have room for 2 max deal players if they want...you add LeBron to Rose, Deng and Noah and you don't think Cal will win games? You don't think he is at least as good a coach as Mike Brown?

I hate Cal... And I love the Bulls... PLEASE dont do this...to me...

looks like it's just going to make cal more money at UK.

I don't see LeBron leaving Cleveland. New York wouldn't have enough talent even if they get a Stoudamire or Bosh with LeBron they still have very little outside of that to really win. Bulls will be probably team to beat in the East if they get Wade or LeBron but I think they go for Wade more because I think he's a little better fit. I think Cleveland and James are staying together. It's just like Jordan leaving the Bulls in the 90s, you may have heard rumors that the Knicks or whatever team is calling but he's never going to leave the team that's made him a star.

As far as Calipari goes. If he leaves Kentucky for the NBA right now he's an idiot. It's like Mack Brown leaving Texas for the NFL right now. WHY?

The Bulls need to make a run at Mo Cheeks. He was a good head coach, and a solid assistant for the Thunder. Actually, I hope they don't look at Mo, so he can stay with the Thunder. Ha ha.

Agreed.

Remember how Cal's name came up for every open position while he was in Memphis? He knows how to play this game to his own financial benefit.

Cal...geez...

get him out of Kentucky before they are placed on probation...

Why would an NBA franchise even want him? just ignorance to me...although Paxon is one of the biggest idiots in the NBA...and yes, it's personal for me...

I'm with you on this. The Mavs choking this season as a 2 seed shows that it may not be the coach that's the problem, but the players. After all, 2 Coach of the Year winners haven't been able to get the team out of the 1st round when they've been a 1 and 2 seed, respectively. That makes one believe that the players are the issue.

The Bulls only have room for one max player (which is starting at $16.8 million for the class of '03 free agents). They're about $24 million under the cap, and they have several million less than that in cap space when you take into account cap holds that are in place for being under the roster minimum. They would most likely have to pawn off Hinrich or Deng in a sign-and-trade to clear cap space for a second max player.

Maybe because he's now so close to Worldwide Wes? Wes has a ton of pull with NBA players, including LeBron.

Lebron and the Bulls? What's the connection?
