Capel could still be on the way out >>> The Oklahoman

Re: Berry Tramel: OU may have won Bedlam, but Jeff Capel could still be on

I disagree with Syracuse, Ohio State, Villanova, Louisville, Georgetown, and Marquette. Those jobs are not always better than OU.

You have to think, the way I worded my statement, you'd have to be willing to leave a good OU team behind to take over any of those programs, even if they are down. Sorry, but Kelvin (the last coach we had that had the program going good) would not have left for Ohio State, or Georgetown. That is laughable.

Syracuse averages like 22,000 fans per game, Louisville and Ohio State aren't far behind. Villanova and G'Town are the only show in town. (Speaking in terms of their respective schools other athletic programs)

Georgetown is basketball school, it is a better hoops job than OU. Also, Ohio State has a nice arena and has great fan support.

Ohio State fans are 100% bandwagon...if they are not top 25 then that arena is half-empty and people realize that it is not a good arena. However they did make the right move in putting the student section right on the court, it helps out a lot with the atmosphere.

I guess I just judge programs differently. I won't say that attendance and being "basketball only" doesn't matter, but they aren't at the top of my list.

I would say that basketball is as important at Ohio State as it is at OU. If they have good teams, then the crowds will be there. If it's not a good team, then nobody goes to the games. Just go back to when they had Randy Ayers as the coach and he had some really good teams then they took a nosedive. Lucky for them, they have a great coach who loves Ohio State University even though he knows he is second fiddle (to football). This is what we need to find.
