Capel to Missouri possible

I think it is a great hire for haith and I am not very excited about it. I think it is a bad move for Capel and I think it is him trying to get back at us. Hopefully he realizes that Haith is using him. It just ticks me off we spent the fifth most on recruiting and now all the fruit from our dollars are going to go to mizzu.

I will however clap for him and be classy and hope all is us will be.

F frank Haith though!

i highly doubt he did it to "get back at us".

it isn't like Capel didn't suffer heartache too. granted, he was paid for it ... but his career is negatively affected also.

he paid his dues by suffering like we have. he doesn't deserve any harassment.

+1

Good grief the new MU coach was on the radio today in KC. Not impressive at all> Capel x and o's really?

Excerpt from the article, speaking of OU's effort to hire a HC:

Castiglione finally got UNLV coach Lon Kruger to take the gig.

Kruger had three losing seasons in four at Pan-American. At Kansas State, he regressed from 25 victories in his second year to 19 and 17 the next two years. He went to Florida and made the NCAA Tournament just two out of his six years there. He went 29-29 his last two years and moved on to Illinois.

He won three NCAA tourney games in four seasons with the Illini, then jumped to the NBA . . . where he flopped horribly with the Atlanta Hawks. From there he revived his career at UNLV, where he built a mid-major juggernaut. He rebuffed Oklahoma initially, but finally Castiglione kept stacking the dollars until Lon caved.

Kruger is a fine coach and a nice hire for OU, but his career arc looks like a roller coaster. At several points along the trail he failed.

The author of the article ends his little blurb on Kruger by making nice, but it is apparent that he is trying to disparage Kruger; While he doesn't say anything that isn't true, it is obvious that he is trying to "spin" things, like his quote above (bolded) about his time at KSU.

If this is true, can you imagine how awkward it will be if we lose to Mizzou at the LNC next year? Especially for our players. Hopefully this is just another rumor from the mill and Capel stays out of the conference for a few years.

Yeah, the Big 12 is going to look odd the next few years: Lon Kruger, a KSU alum and ex-coach coaching at Norman against his alma mater. Capel, a recently-fired reject from OU, coaching alongside Haith at Mizzou; who's coaching at T Tech, I forgot?

Bossi and Daniels (two national recruiting guys) are denying the Capel rumors. Daneis said he spoke with Capel and he's not doing it.

Will be interesting to see who is right.

It's worth noting that Daniels has a quote from Capel on the record:

"I am not going to Missouri."

“@EvanDanielscout: To put this Jeff Capel to Missouri stuff to end ... again. Here's a direct quote from him. "I am not going to Missouri. I am very happy for”
“@EvanDanielscout: ...Frank, and wish him much success. But I have not talked to him since he was named head coach at Missouri."”

with gottfried going to ncsu, capel taking his spot at espn seems pretty obvious.

Why else would he go somewhere within conference that he was fired and going to work for a coach that does not help him with his stature. It is a bad move in my opinion for him. He would have done good to go to another conference and work for a coach with a better track record. For instance, Arkansas would be a great place for him.

Since Capel said he isn't going to Missouri, it's kind of a moot point.

so where did this rumor initially come from? They were obviously way off or Capel is saying they had no contact to try and not embarras mizzou further.
