Boys he isnt going any where. he is here to stay at least another year. He is a good coach, its just going to take some time to right this ship after the exit of TMG and Tiny...

End of Story!

are you a betting man?

I am a betting man! Mostly on the NFL though... Not really on someone's job... But hey I'm willing to try most things at least once!:sherri175_jpg_xs::sherri175_jpg_xs:

Brimm, you're right. He'll be here next year. This is definitely his "benefit of the doubt" year. It's like with anything in life. Ish rolls down hill a lot faster. It takes a lot longer to fix things than it does to actually mess them up.

As a fan its a lot easier to blame the coach if the team is not succeeding. Its hard for a fan to admit, its the players, not the coach.

As a coach, you want to win, no coach is going to just stand on the sidelines and just watch. Im sure they are working these kids hard and its not going to be easy, but I assure they are trying.

I'm here to support our Coach... regardless of our win/loss record...

Side note... Im not a Obama fan, but I will support him (not agree) BC he is the President of the greatest country in the World.

I won't be renewing my basketball tickets that I have had since Tubbs last season if Capel is back. I don't donate a ton of money but Capel is not worth supporting.

So wait...we should blame the players Capel recruited instead of Capel?

You can blame both. But where is that going to get you? mad at your favorite school? I like supporting my teams, not be a front runner and only support when they are good... That goes for all sports not just bball. De'Mond Parker was my favorite running back from OU when I was a kid, guess what that team sucked!

You can support the team and still recognize that we need to head in a different direction. Capel is not getting the job done and this is going to be the worst 2 year stretch in OU basketball for almost everyone on this boards lives. I support the University, I support the players, but I can not support the job Capel has done the last two years. It is pathetic

Exactly. We're not obligated to blindly support a coach that at the end of this season will have produced two of the worst seasons in at least the last 50 years of Oklahoma basketball.

Capel's mistake was to recruit TMG and completely misjudge his quality. Ruined the team then left along with Tiny. We knew WW was leaving (likely). Not much left to recruit from. It might have been better to recruit fewer so as to go into a recruiting season with some scholarships to give to have a chance to improve. A judgement call and no way to know what's best. The next two years will be rough and futurre success depend entirely on recruiting good players. What i dont understand is his hiring the assistants he hired.

Bob Stevens?

And put together one of the best as well. It goes both ways.

He will have missed the tournament in 3 out of 5 seasons. The elite 8 appearance doesn't make up for that, sorry. He must have us in next year or it's 4 of 6 and he's gone.

I always loved watching Sampson have talent like Bookout and Gray and lose in the 1st round to a team like Wis-Mil. Good times.

So you'd rather us advance to the elite 8 and then follow it up with two seasons in the basement of the conference? You must be a Florida Marlins fan.

Your going to throw that first year out there when he didn't have time to bring in anyone other than Clark, Crocker, and Maze...and Clark got hurt. And he wasn't left with anyone.
