Was in touch with Chris Walker (a coach of his at Sierra Community College) and he confirmed that Casey Arent has committed to Oklahoma.

Arent is a 6'10 center with 3 years to play 2.

Little front page update, trying to get more but haven't been able to get in touch with Arent himself.

very nice. thx for the info. Looks like coach is doing an awfully good job of shoring up the gaps. excellent work.

Good news, thanks Sam.

Hope he doesn't red-shirt.

Great. Can always use more depth. Doesn't this pretty much guarantee that hardrick is gone?

Yes, it does. Hardrick and Thomspon will not be around next year. They will both transfer at the end of the season.

Thanks for the great news, Sam! OU needed another big body who could contribute right away next season, and LK came through with a player who fits that description.

I love 6'10'' 240 centers who average 23/13 in juco coming off the bench. This guy knows about work, as evidenced by putting on 60 pounds since he got out of high school.

There are some sleepers to be found out there, especially in the lightly recruited and lightly evaluated California juco leagues.

Hopefully he is at least a serviceable player, and I think he will be.

Too bad Richardson already committed to Tennessee. He probably would have gotten an offer with the extra schollies opening up.

You can never have too many 6' 10" workhorses on your team!

I hope Goff is still coming. Would love to see us add Arent, Goff and Osby along with Groom.

We all know we needed to add size in the paint and depth at PG and that's exactly what we would add with those 4.

i'm going out on abit of a limb because i am not absolutely sure. but, according to his JC website, arent was classified as what is called a "greyshirt" the 1st semester of his freshmen yr. the ncaa defines that as someone that pays their own tuition, practices, but does not play. and, if i understood what i read, arent would have 2 full seasons plus a half a season of eligibility within 3 yrs. something like, sitting out till jan. of next season and then having two more full seasons.

Nice!

Welcome to Soonerland Big Casey. :OUbball-logo:

Excellent! Glad to see we finally have some West Coast representation on our team!

We needed a ball handling point guard and a kid tall enough and big enough to rebound and man someone up in the paint more than anything else. I haven't seen grooms and Arent play, but they read like they fit these profiles. If they are good enough to start, our outlook looks much brighter. Osby, Fitz, and CJ would give us some depth and versatility in the post, Cam, pledger and newell on the wing, and blair/grooms at point. Neal somewhere. We might be representable.

Arent, I assume will not start over Fitz or Osby...

Good recruiting by Lon this late in the game. I'm excited about next year. :woot
