Check out "Taco"

He's got that tall down to a science.

That's a lot of tall.

But before you get too excited thinking about how he’s going to dominate the NBA in the near future, Taco isn’t even dominating high school competition…yet. He averages 11 points, rarely gets more than 1 block a game and only had 1 double double in 21 games.

you just don't see too many guys that good at tall.

It has got to suck to be a 7 footer that's not good at basketball. Having to explain to every single person you ever meet, all of whom will undoubtedly ask you if you play in the NBA, that no, in fact, you suck at basketball and are a claims adjuster at GEICO or something.

I've thought the same thing all my life. Funny...

I would give him a scholarship. OU has had plenty of kids ride the bench that were not 7'5" tall. If he develops, he could be a game changer.

He's what a junior in high school and averages 11 points and less than 2 blocks a game.

He won't be developing

If he averages less than 2 blocks a game in high school at 7'5, he is not a division 1 talent, let alone high major.

That 7'1 kid Thon Maker, that's a different story.

So it doesn't matter that he apparently just started playing basketball? Definitely a project... You can learn how to ball but you can't learn how to tall.

You can't learn how to athlete either, and this kid appears to have somewhere in the range of 0 to -1 athleticism.

Could he be a bench contributor for some team somewhere? Sure, I guess, but that's about it.

I agree that he definitely didn't look real athletic and may not ever be much of a player. I just figured there's no reason to completely write off his chances of being a decent player since he's just learning the game.

"The bigger they are, the harder they ... something"
I'd give Mo Ahmed a chance before this guy. Of course, Mo's only 7'2" but Mo looks
like he has a jump shot.

You can't learn to be a great athlete but you can certainly learn to be better.

you dont know that. you dont know that at all.

Eddie Sutton said Big Country couldn't do anything when he reported to OSU. Not even jog a mile. By conference play, he was a very solid Big XII player his freshman year. I get that Big Country is the exception but you never know what will happen.

After looking at his vid a little more, you want to know how long he's been playing. If it has only been a short while, then you may want to evaluate his learning curve.

He seems reasonably coordinated but can barely jump off the floor. It's possible he's never hit the weight room and his jumping ability may have lots of room for improvement. Same with his strength.

Manute Bol came to U.S. completely unfamiliar with the game. He had a little more jumping ability than this kid but was even thinner. The first time Manute was in the gym at his small Massachusetts college he was told to go dunk the ball. He had no idea what he was doing but broke three teeth ... on the rim.

If this guy can get up to 28" off the ground, he'll be touching 12' 6" on the backboard. That's Wilt, Dwight Howard and Javelle McGee heights. So you'd think some basketball trainer, a Yo-Yo type, would be itching to try this guy in their weight room.
