Chris Beard arrested

Maybe it was a situational play thing that went a little too far…?… LOL….

I kid, dude is a ticking time 💣…bomb

About 30 years ago around this time we first heard of OJ abusing his then-wife Nicole. After his first arrest for domestic violence, he made public comments stating how everything was just a "misunderstanding" and things were "blown way out of proportion". He kept on working for NBC...no big deal. Sadly, domestic violence likely hasn't changed much in 30 years, but how celebrities are treated after accusations have changed significantly. I just don't see Beard surviving this...just hope his wife is okay.

From the article I posted above:

Beard was also quoted as saying that he was not the aggressor! Did I read that right? He can’t possibly be that stupid!

c'mon ada...she was the agressor. I mean, she broke his glasses!

The lady already laid everything out to the police. They have pictures of injuries. She’s not a spouse so she can be called to testify

He’s toast.

Didn’t she recant? I thought she wasn’t cooperating with the DA but maybe I’m wrong.

Even if she recanted, they would still have her initial statements. Proving the case would be tougher if she doesn't cooperate, but it wouldn't be the end of things.

Over-under percent chance DA drops the charges???

I think he should be fired. No question. The evidence of what he did hasn’t changed and won’t change no matter how good his attorney is. If she recanted and isn’t cooperating with the DA, it’s gonna be hard to prove the case. That doesn’t change what he did and I don’t see how texas can keep him after this. Honestly, he shouldn’t be allowed to coach anywhere after this, but he will.

I mean, this should be the end of his career. At least at a high profile school....or minimum you'd think he's done for the season. But he is rich, white and this is UT, so you never know. It'll be interesting to see how the team responds...

Chris Beard will likely get his job back and keep it. Fiance said he didndunuffin.

Saw this coming. How do they explain the bite marks & bruises? Likely saw she would lose millions and/or she’s scared of him.

Still despicable if he keeps his job.

Texas will bring him back and he'll probably get a standing ovation his first game back.

It will be interesting to see how he reacts to the fans on the road. They will be on him constantly.

I predicted this would happen. If the fiancé (aka, victim) is willing to forgive and forget, she opened the door for Texas to bring Beard back. The only question is, when?

UT officials are caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place with this latest announcement. They are torn between wanting to keep their coach and proving they’re strongly opposed to domestic violence. The visual and physical evidence was too obvious to just sweep it under the rug at this late date.

I think Beard will keep his job in the end. Still, UT might have no choice but to make him sweat for a month or two before he is reinstated. This is going to be interesting!

I see little to no chance he is coaching next weekend or soon thereafter. There is always the possibility, no matter how remote, that he truly didn’t do anything other than defend himself, but that seems extremely unlikely based on the officers’ observations. At a minimum, it appears they both were in the wrong. DV cases are always very difficult to sort out, especially when the victim recants, but I just can’t imagine Texas would reinstate him after missing only a couple games.

Obviously the basketball stuff is of secondary importance, but those are my thoughts.

We’re essentially on the same page. I said he may have to “sweat for a month or two” before being reinstated, not a game or two.

Like you, I don’t see how UT could welcome him back anytime soon without raising the ire of domestic violence opponents at the same time? It’s also possible law enforcement officials may get involved, or at least slow the reinstatement process down a little.
