Clemson

6-4 soph Bennett
6-2 Jr Thornton 15.6 ppg, 8.0 rebounds
5-10 Sr Collier 6.5 rebounds
5-8 Sr Westbrook 13.2 ppg
5-7 Sr Edwards 110.80 ppg

Clemson is 2-3, but their losses are at Alabama, and to Tennessee and South Carolina. They aren't a bad team. They are a good rebounding team, but doesn't shoot or hit many threes. In five games,, they have hit only 11 threes (11-53).

Unless we get dominated on the boards this may give us a chance to win. Playing against prolific three-point shooting teams really has been our weakness and the games we have lost so far....

I am hoping Mercer gets the start over Tatum I think she's more productive and just as good a point guard, but maybe her coming off the bench brings a spark that Tatum would not bring coming off the bench? So far in our early-season I think the best player is Williams, followed by Robertson, Murcer then Pellington.

Just throwing this out for discussion. Trying to think what the answer might be for us personnel-wise.

Potential personnel realignment:

1 Taylor
2 Murcer
3 Pellington
4 Williams
5 Lampkin

I know Lampkin has shown nothing, but is she really worse than Williston, EJ or Simpson? If she is, it’s not by much.

Thinking is, pellington’s going to drive to basket no matter where she is. So put her at the three.

Here’s an even more far out of the box idea since we have zero inside presence:

1-Tatum
2- Mercer
3 - Pellington
4 -Robertson
5 - Williams

Can’t be any worse in the middle than what we have now. And boy could we run the floor.

I would like for her to put Williston in and let her play a few minutes. She has played only 8 minutes in one game. Put her in and give her a chance.

I think depth is more of a problem than depth. We have outrebounded every opponent except South Florida, and we lost that by one or two only, and they are a good rebounding team. We rebound pretty well.

I don't know about our interior defense, not having seen the UAB game. It was really weak in the first game. But, it isn't all that easy to score inside against us. I think we count on position, and when we play good defense, they simply don't score inside.

Mandy isn't setting the world on fire. But, she is rebounding pretty well and can hit a cripple. Thus far, I am more afraid of EJ or Lampkin throwing the ball away, losing it on a turnover or offensive foul, or missing a shot that should be a gimme than I am of having Mandy's height on the floor. EJ is a senior. I guess she'll never learn. Nydia just needs to work on rebounding and playing position defense. Leave the scoring to the guards. I really don't want her with the ball right now.

I, too, would like to see Aspen giving some sort of chance, just to see if she can play. Are they redshirting her? She has the power to hold her position.

I think we can live with just a rebounding post. We have scorers. They just need to learn to work together. But, the primary problem is that they can't all play forty minutes at that pace. We don't have any depth that has surfaced that can be effective. It really is:

Madi
Jessi
Taylor
Tatum
Shaina---settle down
Ana----heal
Mandy

Ana is missing. Who else does no harm? I hope that Nydia can come around. But, she is as raw as they get. These seven (six right now) can get very tired by the end of a game.

In the past two games, we seem to have curtailed our turnovers a lot. But, we aren't getting shots either? Slowing down, or better defenders?

Wonder why Taylor didn’t start? She’s been good until the last game.

My bad. EJ started but picked up fouls quickly. That’s why Lampkin is in.

Pellington didn’t start. Is she headed into Sherri’s doghouse?

they definitely started bigger but it didn't help at all because every time the ball was thrown to a post they fumbled it. EJ scored the first five points because she got fouled 3 times and have it easy put back. Robertson hasn't made a single 3-pointer and pellington is a turnover machine as usual. They simply look horrible. Fundamentals have gone out of the window apparently since college for these girls. I tried to give him another shot by watching but it's just too frustrating. Clemson is basically begging OU to take the lead as they are turning it over quite a bit and don't really shoot outside either but we just can't capitalize because we are so dang inconsistent! Start to many frustrating games I imagine

OU down big at the half, I'm sure SC will make halftime adjustments

Adjustments? No matter what she does they can't hold on to the ball! This team is crap, brutally honest, it's crap. I thought we were bad last year but this year is much worse. For is inconsistent as those seniors were last year they were still better than what I've seen so far this year. very happy the men rebounded and won today against a good Dayton team though!!
